I've lived in some of the most vibrant parts of America for my whole life, and the times where I've found a place that was mostly filled with whites have been the most comfortable for me. I'd like to live in that world my parents grew up in where you could leave the car running until it heated up, or you could have your neighbor housesit while you are out of town.
