2019-03-24 18:44:19 UTC

2019-03-24 18:44:32 UTC

Aight i just watched the video

2019-03-24 18:45:03 UTC

I cant say I fully grasped what was being presented to me, but it is a fascinating perspective nonetheless

2019-03-24 18:45:30 UTC

Out of curiosity, can this angular perspective thing be used to explain visible curvature when at a high altitude

2019-03-24 18:46:21 UTC

Or is there another piece im missing regarding that

2019-03-24 18:46:31 UTC

Nah, that’s the just of it

2019-03-24 18:46:47 UTC

I mean, yes, there’s more, but that alone accounts for most of it.

2019-03-24 18:46:54 UTC

Interesting

You’ve never even spoken to us before.

2019-03-24 18:47:58 UTC

its an alt

2019-03-24 18:47:58 UTC

The earth is supposed to be some 8 thousand miles around, it’s a very long way above before you would have a chance at seeing curvature.

2019-03-24 18:48:54 UTC

When people say they see curvature in a plane for instance, it’s usually the same concept, since the amount of curvature present would be nearly invisible even at the highest altitudes of plane flight.

2019-03-24 18:49:44 UTC

The circumference of the Earth in kilometers is 40,075 km, and the circumference of the Earth in miles is 24,901. In other words

2019-03-24 18:50:02 UTC

I’m referring to diameter

2019-03-24 18:50:25 UTC

I guess “around” was a bad choice of words, “through” applies better

2019-03-24 18:51:32 UTC

Apologies if I find that notion a bit harder to believe, I was atop Blue Mountain in Ontario, and its not a particularily tall mountain and the curve was noticable.

Maybe im just misunderstanding something though.

2019-03-24 18:51:55 UTC

Anyhow, many plane windows also have a built in curve to adapt to pressure more easily (or so I’ve been told), this also makes plane flight appear as though it demonstrates curvature.

2019-03-24 18:52:11 UTC

Ive never been in a plane tbh

2019-03-24 18:52:17 UTC

YES, ONE LEVEL FROM GOLD

2019-03-24 18:52:22 UTC

Anyhow
