British regulars were pretty mediocre

They had needed far greater numbers to beat the French in the seven years war

French and Prussian troops were far better than the Brits

the French and Spanish also supported the revolution so it isn't much of a surprise the British gave up

i would say they were slightly above average

id also agree prussian troops were the best

and maybe the french were second best but before the french id put all the other german city states before them

the revolutionaries definitely did a lot of the early leg work though. not trying to discredit them. just saying British regulars weren't exactly the best

yeah joe there was a lot more room for people being promoted for actual capability in the RN than in the British army

the army still had commissions in the mid 19th century

so there were a bunch of old rich retards commanding at the crimea

yeah i think a british officers commision in the army was the equalivent to a million bucks today

some regiments like the hussars would be that expensive, it was mental

whereas the french and prussians were very educational approach to all of it

had academies and so forth

and leaned more towards meritocracies
