Yeah
That kind of says why, lol
are u saying light always bends up
nope never heard of lapse rate
idk which side wants light to b end which way it really doesnt matter to me
im sure sometimes light bends up and sometimes it bends down depending on the medium its coming from and going into
but did u watch the video i posted it shows the boats arent going over the curve
Depends on the density of the medium. Refraction is created when light either slows down or speeds up. It can't travel at the speed of light when their are more particles in the way
And yes colder and hotter air does affect the density of the particles, which affects the refractive index
^
What Jeremy said also factors in since hotter air holds more water, which means more potential medium changes for the light
What do you mean by holds more water?
right above the surfae of earth is the thickest layer of atmosphere right
surface
Yes
isnt that where the most water is gonna be
Light will curve up when the lower layer is hotter, and down when the lower layer is colder. Right??
Higher temperatures have higher dew points, @🅱ruh Sound Effect 2, allows for more water vapor to be present in air
Atmospheric density decreases as the altitude increases
Ah ok
so where is this all going ? light is bending objects thousands of feet above the horizon for us to see with no distortion?
cause that is whats happenning to the chigago skyline right
There is some atmospheric refraction
boats going over the curve there
idk ? i think we should look into whats happenning at the horizon more after seeing that
thats the only video ive seen like that so i would have to see more images of boats under the curve but with the color and contrast adjusted like he does there
what do u guys think
Interesting
wouldnt u like to see more images of boats that are almost all over the curve but with the color and contrast adjusted ?
the images globers use for proof boats are over the curve cause ive already been told that in that video the boat wasnt over the curve it was atmospheric conditions
could u adjust teh contrast and color and still see it through water ?
when just the top of the boat is visible or its totally not visible anymore
you would have to be looking through a mile of water to see the bottom of the boat no ?
Apparently, thanks to how light works, you can zoom in on where the boat was and it will appear again, mast first
A
I want a boat
A boat would be cool. . .
. . . And expensive
;-;
Yes
