They're trying to come up with the best new gimmick while seriously falling behind hard as far as tech goes
People today dont care about motion control, portability (TO AN EXTENT), crazy combo controllers, etc
But srs, it is sad to see a company that old kinda go through this period of staleness. >_>
They care about fun games, good games, and good looking games
While Nintendo is doing good at making fun games, they're restricting themselves too much to certain few big names and ruining, and I genuinly do mean ruining, the few they try to experiment with too much
ie metroid
Everyone hated Federation Force when it was announced
Nintendrones said "WOW U R SO ENTITLED LIKE GIVE IT A CHANCE OMG ITLL BE GOOD SHUT UP"
And then it was garbage
As a result, they pulled a Squeenix and threw in a teaser for a new mainline Metroid game at the very end
In the loosest form possible
When I refer to SE here, I'm referring to what they did with the TWEWY iOS port where they teased a new TWEWY product, got a lot of people hyped, and then disappointed them with a phone port only to tease that there MIGHT be a TWEWY2 down the road
It's manipulative and wrong to do to your customers, especially since in SE's case it shows that there's been no follow up to that teaser yet
Other big titles that get nice niche followings just straight up die or get blanded into obscurity
FZero is gone
Fire Emblem is turning too kiddy and it's causing a divide in the community from what I've heard
Metroid is basically dead
Animal Crossing is essentially a one per generation title, from GC to Wii to 3ds and now likely Switch
Thus not producing enough to tide fans over there
Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon are all they're really good with
Animal Crossing is fucking great though
From what I've heard, it is
It's not my sorta game, so I have no opinion personally
Uh
What else does Nintendo even have?
They do next to nothing with Yoshi and not enough woth DK despite how good those games are every time
Barring Donkey Konga
Kirby is steady but very far behind
And what I specifically had in mind with the bland comment
It started as like, the game they wanted to use to basically teach kids how to play games
And mever really evolved past a simple platformer
A very simple platformer
It looks like with Kirby Lagann they're trying new stuff out, but they're not moving fast enough and still stuck to the 3DS' inferior tech to experiment with
With the only Kirby game on the Wii U being Canvas Curse 2
I've never really been excited for Kirby honestly
They can be super fun
I love Super Star Ultra
They just need to move more into campy action fun like in the Meta Knight's Revenge story and less just "here, fuck around in a few maps for a while"
That'd help it out tremendously I'd say
Otherwise it'll just be the same game pretty much every time
