While Nintendo is doing good at making fun games, they're restricting themselves too much to certain few big names and ruining, and I genuinly do mean ruining, the few they try to experiment with too much

2017-01-25 22:39:02 UTC

ie metroid

2017-01-25 22:39:32 UTC

Everyone hated Federation Force when it was announced

2017-01-25 22:39:56 UTC

Nintendrones said "WOW U R SO ENTITLED LIKE GIVE IT A CHANCE OMG ITLL BE GOOD SHUT UP"

2017-01-25 22:40:05 UTC

And then it was garbage

2017-01-25 22:40:47 UTC

As a result, they pulled a Squeenix and threw in a teaser for a new mainline Metroid game at the very end

2017-01-25 22:40:54 UTC

In the loosest form possible

2017-01-25 22:42:23 UTC

When I refer to SE here, I'm referring to what they did with the TWEWY iOS port where they teased a new TWEWY product, got a lot of people hyped, and then disappointed them with a phone port only to tease that there MIGHT be a TWEWY2 down the road

2017-01-25 22:43:02 UTC

It's manipulative and wrong to do to your customers, especially since in SE's case it shows that there's been no follow up to that teaser yet

2017-01-25 22:44:06 UTC

Other big titles that get nice niche followings just straight up die or get blanded into obscurity

2017-01-25 22:44:11 UTC

FZero is gone

2017-01-25 22:44:39 UTC

Fire Emblem is turning too kiddy and it's causing a divide in the community from what I've heard

2017-01-25 22:44:49 UTC

Metroid is basically dead

2017-01-25 22:45:31 UTC

Animal Crossing is essentially a one per generation title, from GC to Wii to 3ds and now likely Switch

2017-01-25 22:45:45 UTC

Thus not producing enough to tide fans over there

2017-01-25 22:46:13 UTC

Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon are all they're really good with

2017-01-25 22:46:26 UTC

And Pokemon has turned increadibly iffy lately

2017-01-25 22:46:26 UTC

Animal Crossing is fucking great though

2017-01-25 22:46:36 UTC

From what I've heard, it is

2017-01-25 22:46:48 UTC

It's not my sorta game, so I have no opinion personally

2017-01-25 22:47:15 UTC

Uh

2017-01-25 22:47:24 UTC

What else does Nintendo even have?

2017-01-25 22:47:47 UTC

They do next to nothing with Yoshi and not enough woth DK despite how good those games are every time

2017-01-25 22:47:54 UTC

Barring Donkey Konga

2017-01-25 22:48:29 UTC

Kirby is steady but very far behind

2017-01-25 22:48:46 UTC

And what I specifically had in mind with the bland comment

2017-01-25 22:49:18 UTC

It started as like, the game they wanted to use to basically teach kids how to play games

2017-01-25 22:49:32 UTC

And mever really evolved past a simple platformer

2017-01-25 22:49:41 UTC

A very simple platformer

2017-01-25 22:50:31 UTC

It looks like with Kirby Lagann they're trying new stuff out, but they're not moving fast enough and still stuck to the 3DS' inferior tech to experiment with

2017-01-25 22:50:48 UTC

With the only Kirby game on the Wii U being Canvas Curse 2

2017-01-25 22:51:10 UTC

I've never really been excited for Kirby honestly

2017-01-25 22:51:18 UTC

They can be super fun

2017-01-25 22:51:30 UTC

I love Super Star Ultra

2017-01-25 22:52:19 UTC

They just need to move more into campy action fun like in the Meta Knight's Revenge story and less just "here, fuck around in a few maps for a while"

2017-01-25 22:52:35 UTC

That'd help it out tremendously I'd say

2017-01-25 22:52:58 UTC

Otherwise it'll just be the same game pretty much every time

2017-01-25 22:53:45 UTC

Which doesnt help when the one on the Wii and the original actually ARE the same game

2017-01-25 22:53:53 UTC

From what I understand

2017-01-25 22:54:04 UTC

If not the NES one, a different one

2017-01-25 23:21:03 UTC

I always try to take an hour nap and it ends up being 4 hours long
