Alibaba shares hit record highs Thursday before the markets even opened.
Shares of the e-commerce giant were up around 13% in premarket trading after the company forecasted a nearly 50% year-over-year increase in 2018 revenue. The increase was much higher than 35.8% growth that analysts had forecast, according to Yahoo Finance.
The growth is impressive but less so than the numbers Alibaba posted in its fiscal year 2017, which ended in March. Last fiscal year, the company increased revenue by 56% demonstrating Chinese consumers still-growing hunger for online shopping.
Alibaba's stock has gained more than 60% since January.

Shares of Chinese online rival, Tencent, have also been on the move as of late. They're up 32% so far this year.

Eichenwald was caught Wendesday night in a screenshot he posted to Twitter with a tab open on his laptop for a hentai porn website. The tweet caused the internet to go wild, mocking Eichenwald for what appeared to be a rather affinity for strange-by-design cartoon pornography.

An Augusta woman charged with leaking classified information was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count, but prosecutors said they are likely to add more. A federal magistrate judge held a detention hearing for Reality Winner Thursday afternoon.

Two U.S. soldiers were killed and two others wounded Saturday in eastern Afghanistan after an Afghan soldier opened fire on them, U.S. officials confirmed to NBC News.

The shooter — identified as a member of the Afghan National Army's Commando Forces — was killed in return fire, officials added. The incident occurred during a joint U.S.-Afghan military operation in the Achin district of Nangarhar province, the provincial governor's spokesperson said.

The attack follows one in March in which three American soldiers were shot and wounded by an Afghan soldier on a base in Helmand province, officials said. That Afghan soldier was also killed following the incident.

It has been a long haul back from the dead for McDonald's (MCD) , but signs of life on several fronts continue to emerge.

Credit Suisse analysts raised their price target on McDonald's by $8 to $157 in a note Thursday, citing "continued momentum," as "SSS [same store sales] among our franchise contacts have accelerated from 1Q17 [first quarter], with each month better than the last."

The stock closed Thursday's session at $151; a year ago, it was trading at $123.09.

Among the menu offerings that have driven growth are $1 soft drinks and $2 small coffee. Additionally, franchisees told the analysts that improving food quality and operations may now be helping to lift market share. Other upcoming changes are a nationwide roll-out of chicken tenders that are now being tested.

"While the stock may look expensive on an absolute basis, we note McDonald's trades in line or at a discount to most of its franchise peers," wrote Credit Suisse analysts Jason West and Jordy Winslow.
