<:trump:284711336934375425> **Sessions considering second special counsel to investigate Republican concerns, letter shows**
http://archive.is/XzeOC

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is entertaining the idea of appointing a second special counsel to investigate a host of Republican concerns — including alleged wrongdoing by the Clinton Foundation and the controversial sale of a uranium company to Russia — and has directed senior federal prosecutors to explore at least some of the matters and report back to him and his top deputy, according to a letter obtained by The Washington Post.

The revelation came in a response from the Justice Department to an inquiry from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert W. Goodlatte (R-Va.), who in July and again in September called for Sessions to appoint a second special counsel to investigate concerns he had related to the 2016 election and its aftermath.

The list of matters he wanted probed was wide ranging, but included the FBI’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, various dealings of the Clinton Foundation and several matters connected to the purchase of the Canadian mining company Uranium One by Russia’s nuclear energy agency. Goodlatte took particular aim at former FBI director James B. Comey, asking for a second special counsel to evaluate the leaks he directed about his conversations with President Trump, among other things.

President Trump has repeatedly criticized his Justice Department for not aggressively probing a variety of conservative concerns, saying recently that officials there “should be looking at the Democrats.” Sessions’s letter is likely to be seen by some, especially on the left, as an inappropriate bending to political pressure.

http://www.businessinsider.com/cards-against-humanity-buys-land-to-stymie-trump-border-wall-2017-11

The company behind Cards Against Humanity, the self-described "party game for horrible people," has purchased a vacant plot of land on the US-Mexico border, just to get in the way of President Trump's planned wall.

Cards Against Humanity harbors no illusions that it'll be able to stop the construction of the wall entirely. But the company has hired a law firm specializing in eminent domain, just "to make it as time-consuming and expensive as possible for the wall to get built," it said on a new website dubbed Cards Against Humanity Saves America."

"Donald Trump is a preposterous golem who is afraid of Mexicans" the company said on the site. "He is so afraid that he wants to build a $20 billion wall that everyone knows will accomplish nothing."

<http://archive.is/Az09O>

There is growing uncertainty in Zimbabwe.

Soldiers on Wednesday took over the headquarters of the state broadcaster ZBC and blocked access to government offices, but the army says this is not a military take over.

President Robert Mugabe, who leads the ruling Zanu-PF party, is safe, an army spokesman has said.

But as yet, there is no official word from the Mugabe family as to their whereabouts.

<http://archive.is/2zDbO>
For the first time, the Food and Drug Administration has approved a digital pill — a medication embedded with a sensor that can tell doctors whether, and when, patients take their medicine.

The approval, announced late on Monday, marks a significant advance in the growing field of digital devices designed to monitor medicine-taking and to address the expensive, longstanding problem that millions of patients do not take drugs as prescribed.

Experts estimate that so-called nonadherence or noncompliance to medication costs about $100 billion a year, much of it because patients get sicker and need additional treatment or hospitalization.

🇺🇸 **Hillary Clinton Stepped In To Overturn Visa Ban for Islamist Figure Now Accused of Rape**
<https://archive.is/HDQ70>

When George W. Bush was president, his administration banned European Islamist Tariq Ramadan from entering the United States. The 2004 order came after evidence emerged he financially supported a charity that funded terrorist groups.

But in 2010, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton overturned that ban — and personally authorized a visa request to allow Ramadan, grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, into America.

Mr. Ramadan, who is professor of contemporary Islamic studies at Oxford University, has been accused of rape and sexual assault by three women in the past 10 days. One of them, French writer Henda Ayari, says Mr Ramadan raped her in a Paris hotel room in 2012. Ms Ayari, 41, who lodged a rape complaint against the 55-year-old Swiss national on October 20, claimed that for Mr Ramadan, "either you wear a veil or you get raped".

🤔 **Police Body Cameras Can Threaten Civil Rights of Black and Brown People, New Report Says**
http://archive.is/nrDIR

The number of U.S. police departments outfitting their officers with body cameras increases each year, but the cameras can pose a threat to civil rights if the departments fail to set rules that govern when officers review footage from their cameras, according to a new report.

The vast majority of the nation’s biggest police departments allow officers to watch footage from body cameras whenever they want, including before they write their incident reports or make statements, said the report, which was released Tuesday by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.

“Unrestricted footage review places civil rights at risk and undermines the goals of transparency and accountability,” said Vanita Gupta, former head of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and current head of the Leadership Conference, in the report’s introduction.

Because an officer’s memory of an event may be altered by watching body camera footage, doing so will likely alter what officers write in their reports. That, in turn, can make it more difficult for investigators or courts to assess whether the officer’s actions were reasonable based on what he or she perceived at the time of the incident, states the report, “The Illusion of Accuracy: How Body-Worn Camera Footage Can Distort Evidence.”

http://archive.is/RXMEe

A federal judge in Philadelphia ruled Wednesday against the Trump administration's policy of withholding law enforcement grants from so-called sanctuary cities, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In a 128-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson said Department of Justice (DOJ) law enforcement grants can't be withheld from Philadelphia because it refuses full cooperation with federal authorities on immigration, the news outlet reported.

In his ruling, Baylson said Philadelphia proved that withholding the grant money would cause irreparable damage, as part of it is used by first responders who provide life-saving naloxone to victims of opioid overdose, according to Inquirer reporter Jeremy Roebuck.

The money in question was $1.5 million of a $4.4 billion city budget, according to the Inquirer.

🇺🇸 ** An open secret’: Saudi Arabia and Israel get cozy**

<http://archive.is/bFhY1>

WASHINGTON — In the Middle East, your enemy's enemy is your friend.

For Israel, Saudi Arabia's growing willingness to confront Iranian influence in the Middle East presents an opening for an awkward alliance. As the kingdom's dynamic new crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, tries to rally an anti-Iran coalition, Israel — with the blessing of the Trump administration — is presenting itself as a willing and able partner.

The appetite for cooperation between two of America's closest allies in the Middle East has grown in recent years as their security interests have dovetailed. Both Israel and Saudi Arabia view Iran's growing influence in the region as an existential threat and want to squash militant Islamist groups like ISIS and Iran's main proxy, Hezbollah.

🇺🇸 **Twitter Crackdown: Alt-Right/Alt-Lite Figures De-Verified, 'Baked Alaska' Suspended**
<https://archive.is/hSNun>

The social media giant changed their verification (signaled via a blue checkmark) standard for online accounts after receiving backlash for verifying Jason Kessler, who organized the white nationalist protest-turned-fatal riot in Charlottesville, Virginia, this summer. "We are conducting an initial review of verified accounts and will remove verification from accounts whose behavior does not fall within these new guidelines," announced Twitter. "Promoting hate and/or violence" and "inciting or engaging in harassment of others" were included as such behaviors.

In light of the new subjective verification standard, Twitter sought out far-right personalities, commentators, and journalists to strip of their checkmarks. Kessler and white supremacist Richard Spencer were among those deverified. Alt-right personality @wifewithapurpose and self-described "alt-lite" journalist Laura Loomer have, too, been de-verified.

Rumors are already circulating that Twitter will complete its purge of the alt-right by the end of the month by suspending or banning the accounts they have already de-verified. "Bigots cannot truly be booted off the web, and can easily create their own alternative platforms when required. Bump them off one web host, and they will find another in a place like Hong Kong, as the Daily Stormer did," writes Rosenberg. "Knock them off Patreon, you get Hatreon."

🇷🇺 ** ORTHODOX ACTIVISTS CALL FOR KREMLIN STARS TO BE REPLACED WITH DOUBLE-HEADED EAGLES**

<http://archive.is/YsC2w>

The Russian Orthodox activist movement Forty Times Forty has called for the ruby stars to be removed from the towers of the Kremlin, to be exchanged with two-headed eagles, which, according to the organization, could serve for reconciliation and the restoration of historical justice, reports RIA-Novosti.

“We sincerely believe that the ruby stars should stand on those buildings that were built during the 70-year Soviet period of Russian history, but not on the Kremlin towers, which the Bolsheviks have nothing to do with building,” the movement’s statement reads.

In a century of revolution, when, in the view of the movement, Russian society has reviewed the results of “the social experiment of state-building without God and His commandments, the two-headed eagles of the thousand-year Russian Empire should be returned to the towers of the Moscow Kremlin.” As the movement notes, much is heard today about “reconciliation,” continuous historical processes, and the thousand-year Russian statehood.

🇷🇺 ** Russia Might Make All Outside Media Register as ‘Foreign Agents’**

<http://archive.is/Z1rMD>

Russia’s Parliament has passed legislation that could require foreign news outlets to submit to financial scrutiny and refer to their news products as the work of “foreign agents,” the Moscow Times reports, in apparent retaliation for U.S. censure of the Kremlin’s state-controlled broadcaster RT.

The Justice Department last week ordered RT to comply with the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938, a law originally meant to target Nazi propaganda. The move requires RT to disclose sources of funding and attempts to lobby politicians. The American arm of the Russian channel is viewed by U.S. intelligence authorities as the Kremlin’s propaganda machine.

Moscow’s proposed amendments, unanimously approved Wednesday, are not quite tit-for-tat. Because they would likely apply to all foreign media across the board rather than just to state organs, rights groups fear they could be used to muzzle all dissenting voices. The Russian Senate and President Vladimir Putin still have to sign off on the changes before they become law. According to the New York Times, Putin has expressed some reservations over the bill, saying it may go too far.

🇺🇸 ** Airliners And F-15s Involved In Bizarre Encounter With Mystery Aircraft Over Oregon**

<http://archive.is/h1EzG>
Something quite out of the ordinary occurred in the skies over Oregon on October 25th, 2017. A mystery aircraft was flying in daylight hours among the steady stream of airliners that traverse from south to north, between locales in California and Nevada and cities like Portland and Seattle and beyond. The incident began, at least as best we can tell, around 4:30pm near the California-Oregon border and resulted in multiple pilot eyewitnesses, recorded air traffic control audio, and eventual confirmations from both the FAA and North American Aerospace Command (NORAD) that it did indeed occur.

The first inklings of the story came to me shortly after the incident occurred from friends of mine in the aviation world. Sparse on details at the time, it sounded like it was probably just another one of the often misconstrued incidents that happen in the skies around the US everyday—ones where aircraft with inoperable radios or transponders stray into areas they shouldn't. And sometimes these occurrences result in local fighter jets paying the wayward aircraft a visit at the direction of NORAD. But days after initially blowing off the incident, it later began to seem that there was indeed more to the story than just than another "NORDO" private aircraft or lackadaisical pilot.

🇻🇦 **ISIS-linked propaganda poster threatens Christmas attack on the Vatican**
<https://archive.is/GYeq2>

An Islamic State-linked group has allegedly vowed to launch a Christmas terrorist attack on the Vatican. A propaganda poster depicted a jihadist driving a car at high speed towards St. Peter’s Basilica.

The menacing poster was released by the pro-Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) group known as Wafa Media Foundation. It was revealed on Tuesday by the SITE Intelligence Group, a Maryland-based company that tracks the online activity of the extremist organization. The words at the top of the poster, written in red, warn that the attack will take place at Christmas.

The image shows a masked figure, apparently a jihadist, driving at high speed towards St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, where Pope Francis usually celebrates Mass. An assault rifle and a rucksack are clearly visible on the seat next to the driver, who is using a satellite navigation system.

“From the Border Patrol perspective right now, having that support and having the ability to go out and do the job that they were hired for is certainly bringing up their morale,” Provost told Politico’s “Women Rule” podcast recently.

With spines stiffened by a presidential pep talk, House Republicans easily approved a $1.4 trillion tax cut Thursday, taking the first big step toward a decades-overdue overhaul that the GOP hopes will send the economy soaring.

The King of Saudi Arabia plans to step down and announce his son as his successor next week, a source close to the country's royal family has exclusively told DailyMail.com. The move is seen as the final step in 32-year-old Prince Mohammed bin Salman's power grab, which began earlier this month with the arrests of more than 40 princes and government ministers in a corruption probe.

The source said King Salman will continue only as a ceremonial figurehead, handing over official leadership of the country to his son - often referred to as MBS. 'Unless something dramatic happens, King Salman will announce the appointment of MBS as King of Saudi Arabia next week,' said the source.

'King Salman will play the role of the queen of England. He will only keep the title "Custodian of the Holy Shrines".'

🇿🇦 🇿🇼** The unique kind of prison awaiting Robert Mugabe in South Africa**

<http://archive.is/dYvaC>
If deposed Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe is indeed forced into exile in South Africa, as has been proposed, he will be escaping to a less fortunate circumstance than you’d imagine.

While he may avoid jail, public humiliation, or worse in South Africa, he would be fleeing to a country maintained, in many respects, by the people he drove out. They are South Africa’s nannies, cleaners, and Uber drivers. Its shopkeepers, financiers, secretaries, teachers, and business professionals. His wife, Grace Mugabe, is wanted in South Africa oncharges of assault, which she recently escaped under the cover of diplomatic immunity. What charges might Robert Mugabe face?

Perhaps most ironically, he would arrive the same way thousands of Zimbabweans have before him: as a political asylum seeker, trying to escape the consequences of his 37-year-old rule.

The pilot of the helicopter and its single passenger, as well as the pilot of the plane, are all feared to have died in the crash, which happened at around 1,000ft.

Pictures from the scene show splinters of metal from the helicopter littering the floor of the woodland along with parts of rotor-blades and fragments of the cockpit. MACRA insisted the Bible studies had been held for years, WOOD reported, while the district said the group met only twice after students approached the teacher about holding Bible studies during lunch in his classroom. Between 35 and 45 students attended one or both of the studies, the station said.

MACRA added in a statement that “this illegal and unconstitutional activity was being conducted without parental notification or consent. One parent told MACRA that their child, who is only 10 years old, was singled out and subjected to peer pressure for declining to attend the Bible studies,” WOOD reported.

Smith told the station that the district received no complaints about the Bible studies other than the one from MACRA, and Kahle told MLive the parents want to remain anonymous over fear of community backlash.

Kahle reported that this was the district’s second recent violation. MACRA made the district aware in February 2015 that it was inappropriately allowing students at another elementary school to attend a Bible club in a recreational vehicle in the parking lot during lunch. The district stopped the activity and made Bible Club Ministries International-Western Michigan aware of the conflict.

Hundreds of activists flocked to the Libyan Embassy in Paris on Saturday, outraged with the government’s failure to tackle people smuggling after a CCN report unveiled a network of migrant slave auctions in Libya.

Carrying signs reading “No to slavery in Libya,” the demonstrators gathered in front of the Libyan Embassy on Saturday afternoon before marching towards the Champs-Elysees, where they were stopped by riot police cordons. “Free our brothers,” “Let’s liberate Africa,” “We are black, we are human!” the demonstrators chanted.

Clashes broke out as police moved to disperse the protest. Some activists began hurling rocks at police, who responded with tear gas. A Ruptly crew was on the spot to film as activists attempted to break through metal barriers erected by police. One person was arrested following the scuffles, AFP reports. The deputy leader of far-right group Britain First has been arrested in London over a speech made at a rally in Belfast this summer. Jayda Fransen, 31, from Penge, south-east London, was arrested in Bromley by Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) detectives on Saturday.

It’s absolutely ridiculous – this is non-stop with me and Jayda, non-bloody stop.”

Fransen and Golding were in Belfast on 6 August for a demonstration by about 50 people calling themselves Northern Ireland Against Terrorism, which took place on the same day as a republican march organised by the Anti-Internment League to mark the use of detention without trial by the British army during the height of the Troubles in 1971.

Agent Rogelio Martinez died Sunday morning as a result of injuries he and his partner sustained after responding to "activity" while on patrol on Interstate 10 near Van Horn, according to a statement from Border Patrol. It wasn't immediately clear when the incident occured.

Agent Martinez's partner radioed that he and his partner were injured and needed help. Agents reportedly responded and provided medical care and took the two agents to the hospital.

Border Patrol spokesmen said they could not provide any details Sunday on what caused the agent's injuries or what led to them. Spokesman Carlos Diaz says the FBI has taken over the investigation.

🇺🇸 ** VIDEO: Student radio hosts yanked from air, suspended after using the word ‘tranny’**

The University of Minnesota-Morris has threatened a student radio show with cancellation after one of the hosts used the word “tranny” on-air, with campus officials offering several shifting reasons for pulling the show from the airwaves. The College Fix has obtained exclusive video of the moment when the students were pulled from the air during the middle of their show.

“Deplorable Radio” is a weekly show on KUMM hosted by students Brandon Albrecht and Tayler Lehmann. Albrecht told The College Fix in an email that the programming is “a mix of politics, music, and some random musings about current events locally and around the world.”

During a discussion about the university’s lack of “Antifa” violence, Albrecht said the campus was too small for a potential violent activist to hide his identity.

“You know, you can definitely, you see one tranny that’s trying to punch someone,” Albrecht told The Fix he said on-air. “You know it’s automatically that one guy that you know I’m talking about. I bet you know. I’m not going to dox anybody and name them on air. But you two know if I say the tranny who looks like he’s going to punch someone. Yep.”

“About fifteen minutes later,” Albrecht told The Fix, “the student station manager came into the studio with a UMMPD officer and told us to leave. She said we had violated FCC law by saying a word that was never allowed on air, ‘tranny.’ So we packed up and left the studio.”
