@Foxhounddepends on your budget really... If you are doing armor and such you want the biggest bed possible. Tevo tornado and creality cr 10 are good cheaper options. You will have to tune and modify almost all the printers in the budget range to get high quality results. You need to have some computer skills, some electronics skills, and be ok with steep learning curves. There are a lot of aspects to 3d printing that all have to come together for good prints. If you want to print hugh strength materials on cheap printers you will have to upgrade the hot end to an all metal hotend.

Yes, going from total noob to cosplay armor suits for the average person will take 4 month to a year on printers under 2k$
If you can drop 2500$ then it starts to become more of a care free process.
If not youll be chasing quality that will come and go depending on exactly what you are printing and how worn parts are getting on the machine.
