When the two collide they form right wing populism but when Trump starts doing weird things, the GOP has their scapegoat
I think you’re right if you asked each one individually what they believed, but GOP elected officials are so terrified of trump’s ire and his base that they never challenge anything he does, and the handful that have are ousted from the party
That being said, as soon as trump is out of office, I think every republican official will tell you they were secretly against trump the whole time

And there’s a fairly good chance that pence was caught up in some of these same scandals, he could be removed from office as well
Of course the senate wouldn’t let pelosi become president, but it’s not clear that pence is a much better defense at the ballot box
We’ll see what the GOP retirement count looks like, that’s the best metric for what they think the electoral prospects are behind closed doors
