Lots of former military and spooks consult in hollywood on script ideas, weapon usage, etc. you'd be surprised at how sophisticated it is

indie films that deal with topics like life in foreign countries, etc

that may be true
but that doesn’t mean they get a political opinion
they make entertainment, they don’t handle foreign relations

Hollywood is in LA, one of our most cosmopolitan cities, with people from everywhere

not to mention the universities there with major foreign policy programs like USC etc
