Part of it is respect - I understand what they have to deal with, and I don't want them to be spooked or anything

I've never had any trouble outside of riot cops

It's definitely an elephant in the room though, the idea that you might get your brains blown out if you "reach" for something or make a sudden movement. I'm sure the fear is exaggerated by the news and viral footage but still
