anyone have any experience with bivy bags? thinking of getting one with a mesh fly <:apuyes:673419223715807259>

not particularly, compact hammocks are also neat, whatever keeps you dry, warm and off the ground

2020-02-24 03:43:38 UTC

I'm thinking my /out/ setup will involve a hammock

Rain fly and bug net are essential though

My 'Get Home Bag' is this:

2020-02-24 15:10:29 UTC

backpack vs slingbag, which is better for which?

2020-02-24 16:24:10 UTC

backpack

2020-02-24 16:24:18 UTC

military backpacks are kino and efficient

2020-02-24 16:27:01 UTC

Depends on what you're doing. I've used both extensively. I use a sling bag when I need quick access to gear and/or want to stay fast and light.

2020-02-24 16:27:23 UTC

sling bags are good for gear

2020-02-24 16:27:43 UTC

backpacks are good for b.o.bs and stocking

2020-02-24 16:28:08 UTC

anyways, have both at your disposal if you're going to bug out

2020-02-24 16:28:09 UTC

I can swing the sling bag to the front for climbing through fences, climbing trees, hiding in ditches (exactly what I'll be doing while trying to 'get home'), all without taking it off.

2020-02-24 16:28:34 UTC

yeah

2020-02-24 16:29:01 UTC

are waterproof matches a good investment?

2020-02-24 16:29:07 UTC

Always

2020-02-24 16:29:11 UTC

alright

2020-02-24 16:29:20 UTC

a 35L backpack?

2020-02-24 16:29:28 UTC

military of course

2020-02-24 16:29:38 UTC

I keep three forms of firestarting in my bag. If one goes down, you're still good. i keep waterproof matches, a lighter, and a firesteel.

2020-02-24 16:29:59 UTC

firesteels are good

2020-02-24 16:30:14 UTC

I'm going to buy my gear progressively

2020-02-24 16:30:15 UTC

first clothing

2020-02-24 16:30:16 UTC

I also keep a Maratac Peanut on my keychain

2020-02-24 16:30:31 UTC

are camo clothing a good investment?

2020-02-24 16:30:38 UTC

depends on your environtment

2020-02-24 16:30:55 UTC

like a shirt, vest, trousers

2020-02-24 16:31:04 UTC

I live near forests

2020-02-24 16:31:11 UTC

they generally are if you're planning on bugging out

2020-02-24 16:31:18 UTC

yeah? okay then

2020-02-24 16:34:55 UTC

should I get survival blanket?

2020-02-24 16:35:01 UTC

at least one I mean
