Any experience with these? I've heard they are mongo shit but I thought they might be a nice tool to tuck away for emergency usb power. It doesn't specify if it just generates energy, or has a small battery onboard as well.

hmm

2020-02-04 14:17:04 UTC

could this be enough to charge phone?

2020-02-04 14:17:49 UTC

Trouble is all the description is in broken English, it said something about 5-10 minutes of call time

2020-02-04 14:18:06 UTC

Just thought it would be a nice tertiary option for small device power.

2020-02-04 14:18:53 UTC

I know batteries and power banks are best, then you want some form of generator, but I live in a one bedroom flat with my GF so idk where I'd be sticking a gas generator kek

2020-02-04 14:44:42 UTC

Well I can get one for 3 quid so I'll let you all know how it goes I guess

2020-02-04 15:00:41 UTC

Now that i remembered those flashlights that work with similar mechanism i don’t think power generated from here would be anything substantial for a phone

2020-02-04 15:11:11 UTC

Me either, but it still might have some use.

2020-02-04 15:11:20 UTC

I'll give it a proper inspection when it arrives.

2020-02-04 16:01:29 UTC

If you need help with the engine ask me

2020-02-04 16:01:43 UTC

I know how to diagnose a problem easily

2020-02-04 16:02:01 UTC

Ill post the whole thing once i'm on my . Pc

2020-02-05 23:07:09 UTC

i have a solar power bank for the phone

2020-02-05 23:07:36 UTC

slow to charge in sun ofc but works well

2020-02-05 23:07:49 UTC

though ive only used it under mostly grey skies

2020-02-11 20:13:01 UTC

anyone have any experience with wood gas?

2020-02-11 21:30:03 UTC

I built a really dirty gasifier once. Never bothered to refine it or build a cleaner one.

2020-02-11 22:53:18 UTC

Only used a generator once and it didnt work

2020-02-11 22:53:31 UTC

And it wasnt with wood gas

2020-02-11 22:56:57 UTC

The FEMA gasifier plans leave slot to be desired. They mostly just cover theory of operation and make you figure the rest out.

2020-02-11 23:41:14 UTC

There are a lot of tutorials on ytb

2020-02-11 23:41:19 UTC

Pretty interesting

2020-02-11 23:41:28 UTC

Ill try to build one when ill get a welder

2020-02-11 23:56:28 UTC

If you need any help selecting a welder, let me know.

2020-02-11 23:56:55 UTC

Uuuh

2020-02-11 23:56:56 UTC

Ye

2020-02-11 23:57:01 UTC

I actually do

2020-02-11 23:57:08 UTC

Lets fo to tools

2020-02-17 05:46:18 UTC

Why use a wood gas power generator when you could use an ethanol powered one?

2020-02-17 06:03:09 UTC

add hand crank lanterns and radios and flashlight and youre good in the hood

2020-02-17 13:22:47 UTC

Lol. "Request written permission from your regional alcohol authority"

2020-02-17 13:22:50 UTC

Right.

2020-02-17 13:22:51 UTC

HA

2020-02-17 16:44:15 UTC

Anybody ever heard of a gasifier?

2020-02-17 18:17:45 UTC

I've built one.

Been looking into renewable power for off grid living, the avg household in america goes through 914kWh so monthly youll need about 1251W per month depending on your power consumption, which means roughly 7 190W solarland solar panels will be sustainable for personal living if operating with maximum efficiency

2020-02-19 21:10:21 UTC

Depends

2020-02-19 21:10:46 UTC

Also look into geothermal pipes to handle your heating and or cooling

Solar primary with battery backup, wind secondary, and tertiary biomass generator. That's what I'm going for by next summer. This summer I'll get my practice in with the chicken coop.
