I find individual bottles encourage me to drink it and thus rotate my supply. Also makes it easier to get smaller amounts portioned or game some for a bag if necessary, for obvious reasons

Think I might get a storage device like this

2020-03-01 07:02:52 UTC

I have a water cooler I already use so it would be easy to rotate through them.

2020-03-01 07:05:10 UTC

why not just filters and a boiler

2020-03-01 07:06:49 UTC

Anyone here have a preferred way to make hardtack?

2020-03-01 18:42:12 UTC

look in pins

2020-03-01 19:01:27 UTC

Just a question why do some choose to stock up on water?

2020-03-01 19:06:40 UTC

to drink

2020-03-01 19:12:53 UTC

Been using Berkey for years. Keep spare candles, few bottles and 10 x 15l camping water carry flat packs, plus a bottle of stuff to sterilise them first.

2020-03-01 19:18:49 UTC

I get some of that

2020-03-01 19:19:03 UTC

But like here in Toronto people are buying water

2020-03-01 19:19:18 UTC

If the power went out water would not be an issue

2020-03-01 19:19:26 UTC

Our water system is very reliable

2020-03-01 19:19:34 UTC

It just seems like a waste of money imo

2020-03-01 19:22:46 UTC

Yeah, we actually got the berkey for other health reasons over tap water.

2020-03-01 20:59:44 UTC

@Nolsters | NM water gets to your place by pumps that are powered by electricity

2020-03-01 20:59:48 UTC
2020-03-01 21:00:07 UTC

This Blackout also occurred in Canada

2020-03-01 21:00:14 UTC

Took out water too

2020-03-01 21:00:29 UTC

I think it lasted 2 days

2020-03-01 21:01:11 UTC

Oh you are in Toronto

2020-03-01 21:01:27 UTC

Toronto was affected

2020-03-01 21:01:44 UTC

You also live on a lake though

2020-03-01 21:09:23 UTC

I have about 50 gallons at my mom’s place, about 30 and a rain catchment at my dads, and 10 at my apartment.

2020-03-01 21:17:32 UTC

I live in central Arkansas though, no more than a couple miles from a variety of lakes, so more water isn’t ever difficult.

2020-03-01 21:26:30 UTC

@Stegg if power goes out torontos water stay on and works

2020-03-01 22:49:58 UTC

What powers your stations?

2020-03-01 22:50:52 UTC

I mean when my power goes out the water still works

2020-03-01 22:51:38 UTC

But but the station will be messed up eventually

2020-03-01 22:53:49 UTC

I mean I worked for disaster relief for a bit. I'd tow out generators and fuel for cell towers. So there are methods to keep things going.

2020-03-01 23:10:07 UTC

That's what I'm saying. If your buying water it's like your prepping for a full on collapse of society

2020-03-01 23:16:59 UTC

Yes

2020-03-01 23:27:46 UTC

2020-03-02 00:20:33 UTC

2020-03-02 01:25:24 UTC

also in my case hurricanes are a regular thing and I could become surrounded by piss and shit water at any moment because of flooding
