do you agree or not: making sex ed more important in our education, making contraceptives more available, and making sex less taboo overall would decrease abortion

2019-05-07 13:59:34 UTC

i agree

2019-05-07 13:59:53 UTC

Sex education. Take the funds away from planned parent hood and give it to schools to teach sex ed.

2019-05-07 14:00:11 UTC

planned. parenthood. is. important.

2019-05-07 14:00:21 UTC

Yes

2019-05-07 14:00:38 UTC

I think there is a difference between making sex less taboo and making sexual topics appropriate. People need to know that there should be nothing wrong with asking a question, but there is a time and place to do so. So often especially nowadays it seems as if sex, talking about sex, having sex, something related to sex slips into every conversation.

2019-05-07 14:00:46 UTC

i actually strongly disagree with planned parenthood

2019-05-07 14:00:51 UTC

only 3% of what they do is abortion, so even if ur pro life you shouldnt take away planned parenthood funding

2019-05-07 14:01:03 UTC

yeah i agree billcat

2019-05-07 14:02:07 UTC

That statistic is actually very misleading, as what "they do" is very muddied by planned parenthood itself. Did you get a pregnancy test? Now the abortion was only 50% of your visit. Did they direct you towards some basic psychiatric support group? Now it's only 33%, and so on and so forth

2019-05-07 14:02:37 UTC

I'm against funding a private company that already makes millions in revenue and instead would prefer to see that money go towards opening and renovating more local health clinics

2019-05-07 14:02:41 UTC

didnt think abt it like that

2019-05-07 14:03:09 UTC

Yea, it's incredibly deceptive

2019-05-07 14:03:19 UTC

still, its services aren't just abortions

2019-05-07 14:03:57 UTC

That is true, they do other things aside from abortions, however not nearly as much as they claim, and frankly, the money could do more good elsewhere

2019-05-07 14:04:38 UTC

The whole abortion topic aside, planned parenthood itself is quite the shady organization with a spotty track record of under the table selling of fetal tissue, among other things

2019-05-07 14:04:51 UTC

you could say that about almost anywhere you donate money tho

2019-05-07 14:05:09 UTC

what is considered doing good

2019-05-07 14:05:28 UTC

how do you measure which action is better than another

2019-05-07 14:05:33 UTC

those are all subjective

2019-05-07 14:05:36 UTC

That it could do more good elsewhere? I would consider achieving the same benefits as planned parenthood on a larger scale with the money given to planned parenthood would be considered doing better

2019-05-07 14:06:07 UTC

Going above and beyond the ability of the original organization with the same amount of cash, although subjective, would be a good start

2019-05-07 14:06:25 UTC

As for the actual abortion argument, well, that's a tough one

2019-05-07 14:07:12 UTC

i mean yeah...

2019-05-07 14:07:45 UTC

For one, I do believe that life begins at conception. There are so many methods in our modern society to prevent an egg from being fertilized, but once that process has occurred, and, if left alone, this fertilized egg could one day be another person walking amongst us, I think it's immoral to deny that.

2019-05-07 14:08:02 UTC

i agree 100%

2019-05-07 14:08:21 UTC

i disagree

2019-05-07 14:08:26 UTC

I'm personally an atheist, there is no grand fetus heaven. Denying the life experience of another possible person before they are even born is detrimental

2019-05-07 14:08:30 UTC

but i do get your point

2019-05-07 14:08:41 UTC

That's fair enough. Why do you disagree, if I might ask?

2019-05-07 14:10:11 UTC

idrk how to explain um

2019-05-07 14:11:13 UTC

it hasn't fully formed all the features someone of it's species would have, like lungs

2019-05-07 14:11:28 UTC

sorry i can't explain this that well

2019-05-07 14:11:58 UTC

That's ok. See, when you draw the line of "is it a life" at anywhere besides conception, you end up also including a portion of humans who are walking around among us

2019-05-07 14:12:09 UTC

it hasn't formed all the features necessary for sustaining human life

2019-05-07 14:12:49 UTC

There are people with no heartbeat, no x y z whatever part you want to bring up, who still cling to life, however I assume you don't advocate that it's acceptable to terminate them

2019-05-07 14:13:05 UTC

yes, it's definitely not

2019-05-07 14:13:18 UTC

but if they are clinging to life then just let them die

2019-05-07 14:13:28 UTC

And even then, I don't think the ability to sustain yourself should be the criteria for will you be killed or not. And I would disagree with that

2019-05-07 14:13:30 UTC

if they want to
