As a straight male, I have never been tempted by gays or trannies - I don't see any risk here, I don't get it

I have stats that cover this iirc but we still don't have image perms in this chat

It'd make sense that exposing behaviors to people would make them more willing to participate in them

Obviously that doesn't mean that everyone will accept them it just means that it would make the chance higher

It makes sense that exposing people to behaviors might make them participate in them more, however there are several issues with this

1) The "poser" population that you guys like to lean on; it is BECAUSE it is taboo that they engage in these behaviors

2) The "real" gays and trannies would still be there, right? Except hiding. Maybe even in "normal" relationships, acting like you'd expect. But they are suffering right? None of it is real. It's because society is forcing them in this box, that they are forced to be "normal"

There are two groups, right? "Real" gays and trannies, and "posers"

That addresses both of them. Even if you have stats that show that acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community, ends up in more members of the LGBTQ+ community overall - your point is moot.

Unless you don't believe in "real" trannies and gays, I don't see how your point pans out.

If you're saying that it shouldn't be "encouraged", sure man - but where is that happening, besides the entertainment media outlet? Unless you think simple saying "it's ok to be gay" and "it's okay to be trans" is some kind of a call to action?

Well, that makes it all the more moot - if you agree that most of them aren't pretending...what, do you think acceptance of them is going to coerce non-gay and non-trans people (who are not out with the intent to be "taboo" and edgy) to become that way?

I mean, I suppose - what are you proposing, policy-wise?

Is gay marriage cool?

Are tranny operations allowed?

The drag queen stuff I have seen - it is pretty disturbing, visually speaking

That said, do you think the straight boys who are crushing on girls are going to become trannies or homos?

They simply don't care - it's literally entertainment for them

HOWEVER

it DOES help them realize that trannies and cross-dressers do exist - and it's cool, they are people like all of us

So, the REAL trannies and gays are going to feel good, knowing that it's alright

And the others are going to be more accepting for them

And if it's totally normalized, where is the room for those kids that just want to act out and be rebels?

The only remaining sliver that I can see you having is that the hypothetical 5-10% who are faking, is more important to stop, than the 90-95% who are "real" from feeling better

And I sort of think that point kills itself...

To bring it back around to policy, I'd ask what you actually think needs to be "done" about this issue

You might be uncomfortable about homos and trannies, but what exactly do you think we should do? Do we ostracize them in schools? Teach them that being gay or trans is "bad" or "immoral"?

It's not a good strategy.

I'll answer the policy thing first. I'd propose that we do teach people those things are bad, but I'd go beyond ostracizing them tbh. I think if you actually want something done you should be willing to do whatever it takes to get it done. If you want people like that gone the most effective way the government can help is by physically removing the people in question. When I say physical removal I mean it literally, just remove them from society. I think the way you should do that is the death penalty, it's easy to spot if someone is gay in almost every case I've come across with and there really isn't much of a chance you'd get it wrong. It isn't that hard of a thing to do. I don't think that's all you should do but in terms of policy that's a start. I think that even if they push it the majority of people still won't be gay, so no I don't think super sexual people will become gay, but also there's definitely other people who would prolly have a higher chance.
