public school, police/fire/ambulance etc obviously

Depending on what's implemented, yeah it can be moral

Things start to get dicey when a 70% marginal tax rate gets involved.

2019-07-09 13:01:44 UTC

Like if you go all the way, and start to redistribute wealth, that’s where I would say it is immoral, as it is taking something that isn’t yours and giving it to people who didn’t earn it and don’t deserve it

Same here, I start to get a little uncomfortable when universal income and things like that are discussed, but I can see the reason.

2019-07-09 13:11:16 UTC

ye good point

2019-07-09 13:11:33 UTC

i think ubi is a bad idea

2019-07-09 13:11:56 UTC

inevitably automation is going to continue centralizing power so something is going to have to be done about it but i really dont think handing out money is the right idea

2019-07-09 13:12:13 UTC

inflation will just adjust

2019-07-09 13:12:20 UTC

better off to provide better social programs

2019-07-09 13:12:41 UTC

but even then its not black and white, you cant just start taxing the 1% at 99% or whatever the fuck

2019-07-09 13:12:46 UTC

theyll just leave the country

It is an interesting predicament. I've never really thought about the topic, though. So I don't have any ideas prepared.

2019-07-09 13:14:12 UTC

tech companies already have too much power and we need consumer protection laws in regards to free speech on social media and google

2019-07-09 13:14:24 UTC

most pressing issue imo

Definitely

Funny though how we need to make laws to stop people from changing the rules

2019-07-09 13:15:22 UTC

yep

2019-07-09 13:15:42 UTC

as tech advances society needs to protect the consumer, its been the same thing throughout history

fair

2019-07-10 17:15:05 UTC

@J. that’s communism my guy

2019-07-10 17:16:21 UTC

UBI is horrible

2019-07-10 17:16:27 UTC

How

2019-07-10 17:16:42 UTC

Just had this debate like yesterday

2019-07-10 17:17:07 UTC

A finish university proved that it has no effect on the work expended

2019-07-10 17:17:22 UTC

Also the argument wasn’t even an argument

2019-07-10 17:17:27 UTC

Okay, so all universities is correct?

2019-07-10 17:17:39 UTC

Just a conversation all one sided

2019-07-10 17:17:47 UTC

Which university?

2019-07-10 17:17:55 UTC

Helsinki

2019-07-10 17:17:57 UTC

I think

2019-07-10 17:18:00 UTC

?

2019-07-10 17:18:00 UTC

I’m not sure

2019-07-10 17:19:41 UTC

But if the gov. gives its leftover budget, in rather small divendends, say 300£, wide spread across the said nation, it has no effect on work effort whatsoever

2019-07-10 19:17:26 UTC

Cuz you can’t live off of 300 quid

2019-07-11 02:50:42 UTC

@Godzilla3301 shut the fuck up

“ThAt’S cOmMuNiSm”

2019-07-11 13:53:54 UTC

that does not say communism isnt full socialism

2019-07-11 13:54:24 UTC

its just saying that self descibing socialist parties "generally tended" towards a more moderate framework - social democracy

2019-07-11 13:55:01 UTC

complete socialism, whereby an authority enforces the sharing of all goods and property (in theory, never actually works that way) is communism

2019-07-11 13:58:10 UTC

`Marxism-Leninism and democratic socialism were the two dominant forms of socialism in the 20th century; democratic socialism advocates economic reform through gradual democratic legislative action rather than through revolution. `
