Yeah, like canabidiol, it's a good composite extracted from the sativa, but weed also has THC, which is mostly harmful

2020-01-26 05:56:51 UTC

what would be your take on porn?

2020-01-26 05:57:06 UTC

The problem is that people either want it everything legal or everything illegal

2020-01-26 05:57:17 UTC

THC is not that harmful tbh, it doesnt cause permanent damage to most people

and I think thats the key bit the FDA often ignores (most people)

2020-01-26 05:57:19 UTC

I never thought much of porn

2020-01-26 05:57:26 UTC

Actually it does

2020-01-26 05:58:01 UTC

I wouldnt say everything legal

I would more go to the side of decriminalized use

If someone sells a can of beer to someone underage they're a piece of shit ignoring the evidence for harm to developing brains

2020-01-26 05:58:25 UTC

It increases your chance of developing schizophrenia by 6 times, there's evidence of causing sterility, short and medium memory lost

2020-01-26 05:58:51 UTC

Besides psychological dependence

2020-01-26 05:58:53 UTC

I need to see those studies tbh, Ive delved into THC research before and I didnt see any statistically significant factors for that

2020-01-26 05:59:08 UTC

Psychological dependence is not a defense, that forms with all compounds

2020-01-26 05:59:37 UTC

I mean that psychological dependence is a factor to consider harmful, not that it's exclusive

2020-01-26 05:59:47 UTC

Yeah, true, not exclusive

2020-01-26 05:59:58 UTC

and psychological dependence is a field itself in psychology and psychiatry

2020-01-26 06:00:04 UTC

but we cannot blame compounds for that

2020-01-26 06:00:14 UTC

its a human issue anyone can develop in the right circumstance

2020-01-26 06:00:47 UTC

Unfortunately, many pharmaceutical drugs that are pretty much needed to cure some diseases are prone to causing psychological dependence

2020-01-26 06:01:39 UTC

Ive been prescribed opioids before and taken them for extended periods for work related injuries and after losing the drug I felt miserable, I had the right brain to push through and not turn to the black market to support them and went through withdrawal

But you wont see me arguing to make those drugs illegal, some of my own research dealt with those drugs, some of my own clinicals saw people benefit from them

2020-01-26 06:02:05 UTC

The point I am trying to make is that we have not done the right research even into compounds like CBD or THC

2020-01-26 06:02:24 UTC

Let alone research into other psychedelics or other compounds

2020-01-26 06:02:28 UTC

Porn like drugs can be addicting and have psychological defectives so its not a question of it being legal or illegal but stats have shown that there are different results like porn ruining marriages to men losing their restraint and moving more over to child porn to even causing incest or sexual abuses in public

2020-01-26 06:02:37 UTC

Flat out banning something is a dangerous slippery slope

2020-01-26 06:03:43 UTC

I still believe outright banning is better than outright allowing as a preemptive measure

2020-01-26 06:04:11 UTC

Maybe we are just in the phase of transition

2020-01-26 06:04:13 UTC

Preemptive maybe, I might agree to that, so long as we remain intellectually honest and allow proper research and laws to be put in place

2020-01-26 06:04:21 UTC

and the means to defend users vs suppliers

2020-01-26 06:05:04 UTC

Ive seen addiction in people firsthand and locking them away with no treatment is not right, its not, seeing lives ruined because someone couldnt be weened off a drug is horrible

2020-01-26 06:05:47 UTC

But with the data available from places like Netherlands and Uruguay, I don't really think we are in an inevitable transition from prohibiting to allowing, at least in general

2020-01-26 06:06:36 UTC

We should be focused on destroying the illegal market at the same time as we treat the victims

2020-01-26 06:06:43 UTC

I agree to that too

I think we're getting closer to where I want to see things

A means to take a compound, research it, find alterations, alternatives, build systems of support, and make it work

2020-01-26 06:06:59 UTC

but I also dont like seeing people go to jail because they get caught with a plant

2020-01-26 06:07:30 UTC

I just think that in the end, we won't inevitably move towards legalization, many countries did that or similar, it didn't work

2020-01-26 06:07:41 UTC

looking over to Netherlands as a justification to outlaw drugs is a mediocre take just as much as saying Universal Healthcare is good because Sweden has it

thats not the point of either of those results

2020-01-26 06:08:08 UTC

I'm not only talking about Netherlands, just used as a popular example

2020-01-26 06:08:14 UTC

I dont ask for legalization, I ask for proper regulations and proper research

2020-01-26 06:08:24 UTC

I am biased, I am a STEM major and someone who has used

2020-01-26 06:08:25 UTC

No one talks about Portugal when they talk about abortion for example

2020-01-26 06:09:11 UTC

heh true

2020-01-26 06:09:34 UTC

im just talking about that if youre looking over to another country as an example is a bad take because that would just regurgitate the same taking point of someone saying "well communism hasnt been tried here"

2020-01-26 06:09:53 UTC

I just think that even after even more research we will still be in a place where most drugs will remain mostly outlawed
