My boyfriend is having a heart Cath done to check the status of his heart..he had a stint installed a while back, so they're checking on the status of that..he had a heart transplant when he was 4, so they keep a real close eye on him .we have to come here multiple times a year.
ah at least nothing is wrong. how long does the observation take?
Well, we've been here since 6am.. it's 3:35pm now and I surmise we'll be here for another few hours. The actual procedure takes about half an hour to an hour usually...usually takes most of the day though because of all the waiting..we left home at 4am..takes about 2 hours or more to drive here.
it sounds like they need to work on their administration and appointments
Yeah, he got a stint put in cause one of his arteries "the Widowmaker" was over 90% blocked with scar tissue..
Yeah, scheduling fucked up bad this time.
@ZombieQueen no velveeta?
Bahaha no, no Velveeta.
I wish I could walk around the hospital while he's back there being worked on, but they didn't even give me a pager to notify me he's in recovery, so I have to stay put.
Leh sad
if they are just looking at flow and function couldnt they do it quicker with doppler ultrasound and ecg?
At least I have something to occupy my mind
doppler would be much safer to look at how scar tissue is acting without doing a central line to probe
The take samples from his heart to make sure his organ rejection is at a....safe ish level..
ah i suppose you can't do a noninvasive biopsy 😋
That would be nice if they had a nonivasive option..lol .he says when they take the tissue samples with little metal claw that it feels like being punched in the chest with much force.. I don't see how he can stay still with such discomfort..
i would refuse until they gave me a bag full of halothane to huff
Please tell him I hope he recovers well and fast... I know how it feels to have a fucked heart
Thanks so much, Renaldo I will definitely relay the message when he and i are reunited. !!
They don't give him anything to sedate him... just something for his nerves...and I don't even think they give him that Everytime..so yeah, it's fucked to have to endure something like that awake..
Yeah, tell him your story Renaldo! Your experience was pretty scary too! @Rendier
they MUST give a anti anxiety before something like this
what was Renaldo's story?
if they are doing ecg i hope they dont give beta blocker lol
I assume you in America somewhere @ZombieQueen
Yep @lekker man
me too, in los angeles, where are you guys?
Alabama.
are you south africans?
yeah
I miss L A. No, I'm not. Lol I'd definitely have a cooler accent than I have if I was South African lol
@ZombieQueen the Southern accent sounds better imo
LA is nice, been here almost two years and definately getting used to the big city life
Lol you're one of the few that feels that way. Most people think people with southern accents sound slow or mentally handicapped lol so it's a surprise to hear someone who thinks differently. @lekker man
I think its all the country music I listen to
Big city life is quite an adjustment. Nice to be walking distance to things though yay convenience.
my one friend loves saying how the Afrikaaners and the Americans from the South are very similar
culturally and things
farm and church
