now i will say this for hammocks: the ground is the #1 stealer of your body heat in any situation. if the only thing between you and the ground is a sleeping bag, you’ll be miserable

so if you can get even a thin blanket of some kind or literally even a bed of pine needles set up, you negate like half that effect

that’s where a pad comes in

If hammocks weren’t so situational it’d be great but the time it takes to setup is shit along with what you need to work right

I do recommend getting a tac shovel. Pick axe, shovel, saw, melee weapon, and most have a dry compartment to hold matches and things alike
