however, i never sleep in a hammock overnight without a sleeping pad and a sleeping bag

the idea is that you’d lay the shiny side of the foil down and it reflects what body heat you have back at you while trapping lots of other heat

now i will say this for hammocks: the ground is the #1 stealer of your body heat in any situation. if the only thing between you and the ground is a sleeping bag, you’ll be miserable

so if you can get even a thin blanket of some kind or literally even a bed of pine needles set up, you negate like half that effect

that’s where a pad comes in

If hammocks weren’t so situational it’d be great but the time it takes to setup is shit along with what you need to work right
