Noooooo, Iā€™m not even an adult yet

2020-04-20 05:40:58 UTC

it's all good šŸ™‚

2020-04-20 05:41:01 UTC

Sir

2020-04-20 05:41:15 UTC

Heh

2020-04-20 05:41:48 UTC

Yeah I also have a grand in some lucrative long term holds I reckon so I'll see what comes of that in six months

2020-04-20 05:41:50 UTC

The only sirs here are the admins

2020-04-20 05:42:02 UTC

i hope you're right. the problem with earnings reports is they cause a lot of volatility for bag holders just before them, and then all the volatility disappears right after. and if you're on the wrong side of the trade...

2020-04-20 05:42:13 UTC

i mean if you're long for years, it doesn't matter, as long as you think the company won't die

2020-04-20 05:42:28 UTC

but it matters for swing traders

2020-04-20 05:43:46 UTC

@Vin_Farren also, don't be overly lured with 24hr trading. the volumes are low. that volume is done mostly by algos and professional traders

2020-04-20 05:44:00 UTC

the best cahnces are during NY trading hours

2020-04-20 05:44:07 UTC

I just want something to do with 24hr lol

2020-04-20 05:44:13 UTC

okay, well then šŸ˜¦

2020-04-20 05:44:19 UTC

2020-04-20 05:44:28 UTC

freakin' wrong face...........

2020-04-20 05:44:31 UTC

Lol

2020-04-20 05:44:49 UTC

Gotta make me that dinero

2020-04-20 05:45:48 UTC

For the extra shit I dont wanna pay my own money for tbh

2020-04-20 05:47:01 UTC

i understand that desire. you'll just find it harder off-hours is all. less liquidity and more advanced compeititon

2020-04-20 05:47:23 UTC

having said that, i'll be trading FX off-hours as soon as i figure out this stupid MT4 software

2020-04-20 05:47:52 UTC

Looks similar to the graphics for webull

2020-04-20 05:47:57 UTC

The site you showed

2020-04-20 05:48:25 UTC

yeah. except i can enter advanced orders

2020-04-20 05:48:42 UTC

i think i can do efficient hotkey trading, but i haven't figured that out yet.

2020-04-20 05:50:04 UTC

an example adv order i will be doing is called a bracket trade, and you need good trading software for things like that. i can enter either with MKT, STP, LMT, and once my trade has executed, my broker can already have instructions from my software to immediately start LMT for profit-taking and STP for stop-loss so i don't get caught with my dick in my hands

2020-04-20 05:50:22 UTC

Sounds complicated as hell

2020-04-20 05:50:25 UTC

and you can do a lot more than that. you can do triggers, OCOs, etc

2020-04-20 05:50:46 UTC

well, that one is pretty easy. if you watch some youtubers do it, you're like "oh, that looks easy". they show you how to set this stuff up

2020-04-20 05:51:02 UTC

i'll show you real quick.. hang on

2020-04-20 05:53:32 UTC

at the top, i setup a bracket to take profit at 1-tick up from where i enter and stop loss at 1-tick below where i enter. where the arrow is, if i click, it will enter a STOP order to put in a MKT order once the price moves past my buy price

2020-04-20 05:54:57 UTC

and the reason i want to trade e-mini and e-micros in particular is because they have known tick values. 1 tick on e-mini is a $50 move, and e-micro is $5 move. so it's a lot less thinking about how to setup my brackets than a stock, where i have to determine what price movement i want

2020-04-20 05:55:22 UTC

i'm just not knowledgeable enough yet to determine how large my brackets should be on random stocks

2020-04-20 05:55:42 UTC

You're trading 2.8k shares at a time?

2020-04-20 05:58:00 UTC

if i trade e-mini, yes, i would be paying about 2.8k per contract. that's a notional value

2020-04-20 05:58:16 UTC

you need 13.2k of margin to enter it, per contract

2020-04-20 05:58:34 UTC

but that's on TDA. with other brokers, you can do some of this with less.

2020-04-20 05:58:43 UTC

if you trade e-micro, the price is 1/10 that

2020-04-20 06:01:43 UTC

left circle tells you that this future moves in 1/4 tick increments. each 1/4 tick is $12.50 of movement. the multiplier of 50 is 50*notional value, or in this case, the future would be controlling $143k of underlying value (and if you wait the full 60 days for settlement, if that ended up being the notional value, that's how much you'd pay to buy it).

therefore, you see on the right that there is a 13.2k initial margin requirement

2020-04-20 06:02:29 UTC

but my goal is not to hold the futures. i will get in and get out. and i am only going to trade around the opens. but if you hold until EOD, you will be marked to market, which means you will have to meet the margin maintenance requirements. so just don't be a bag holder at EOD

2020-04-20 06:02:50 UTC

and like i said, this is at TDA. there are other brokers that i believe let you trade these with much smaller accounts

2020-04-20 06:05:10 UTC

but you want to know what TDA and IB can offer you that most brokers can't? settlement margin on IRA/Roth IRA trading. so you can day trade your retirement accounts for big gains
