Noooooo, Iām not even an adult yet
it's all good š
Sir
Heh
Yeah I also have a grand in some lucrative long term holds I reckon so I'll see what comes of that in six months
The only sirs here are the admins
i hope you're right. the problem with earnings reports is they cause a lot of volatility for bag holders just before them, and then all the volatility disappears right after. and if you're on the wrong side of the trade...
i mean if you're long for years, it doesn't matter, as long as you think the company won't die
but it matters for swing traders
@Vin_Farren also, don't be overly lured with 24hr trading. the volumes are low. that volume is done mostly by algos and professional traders
the best cahnces are during NY trading hours
I just want something to do with 24hr lol
okay, well then š¦
š
freakin' wrong face...........
Lol
Gotta make me that dinero
For the extra shit I dont wanna pay my own money for tbh
i understand that desire. you'll just find it harder off-hours is all. less liquidity and more advanced compeititon
having said that, i'll be trading FX off-hours as soon as i figure out this stupid MT4 software
The site you showed
yeah. except i can enter advanced orders
i think i can do efficient hotkey trading, but i haven't figured that out yet.
an example adv order i will be doing is called a bracket trade, and you need good trading software for things like that. i can enter either with MKT, STP, LMT, and once my trade has executed, my broker can already have instructions from my software to immediately start LMT for profit-taking and STP for stop-loss so i don't get caught with my dick in my hands
Sounds complicated as hell
and you can do a lot more than that. you can do triggers, OCOs, etc
well, that one is pretty easy. if you watch some youtubers do it, you're like "oh, that looks easy". they show you how to set this stuff up
i'll show you real quick.. hang on
at the top, i setup a bracket to take profit at 1-tick up from where i enter and stop loss at 1-tick below where i enter. where the arrow is, if i click, it will enter a STOP order to put in a MKT order once the price moves past my buy price
and the reason i want to trade e-mini and e-micros in particular is because they have known tick values. 1 tick on e-mini is a $50 move, and e-micro is $5 move. so it's a lot less thinking about how to setup my brackets than a stock, where i have to determine what price movement i want
i'm just not knowledgeable enough yet to determine how large my brackets should be on random stocks
You're trading 2.8k shares at a time?
if i trade e-mini, yes, i would be paying about 2.8k per contract. that's a notional value
you need 13.2k of margin to enter it, per contract
but that's on TDA. with other brokers, you can do some of this with less.
if you trade e-micro, the price is 1/10 that
left circle tells you that this future moves in 1/4 tick increments. each 1/4 tick is $12.50 of movement. the multiplier of 50 is 50*notional value, or in this case, the future would be controlling $143k of underlying value (and if you wait the full 60 days for settlement, if that ended up being the notional value, that's how much you'd pay to buy it).
therefore, you see on the right that there is a 13.2k initial margin requirement
but my goal is not to hold the futures. i will get in and get out. and i am only going to trade around the opens. but if you hold until EOD, you will be marked to market, which means you will have to meet the margin maintenance requirements. so just don't be a bag holder at EOD
and like i said, this is at TDA. there are other brokers that i believe let you trade these with much smaller accounts
but you want to know what TDA and IB can offer you that most brokers can't? settlement margin on IRA/Roth IRA trading. so you can day trade your retirement accounts for big gains
