Going back to the car and pickup truck analogy, the variation is the different types of cars and pick up trucks that exist. But the difference is how these two groups are distinct. The car doesn’t have the towing capacity of the pick up truck and has more suspension. But the towing capacity and suspension are variants of the pick up trucks.
