<3, jdmwaaat #1 attentive admin

Is it just me or did the AK not actually break? It seems like the guy's just accidentally bump firing.

2018-07-23 19:32:15 UTC

that is extremely consistent rate of fire for bump firing

2018-07-23 19:32:34 UTC

but its possible

2018-07-23 19:33:31 UTC

i did notice his finger didn't leave the trigger well

2018-07-23 19:36:05 UTC

Yeah, exactly. If it were really broken, it should have been firing independent of his actions, I would think. I think he was just pulling the gun forward with his off hand as he depressed the trigger with his dominant, without even realizing it. He panicked is all.

2018-07-23 19:40:15 UTC

yeah, but it would be impressive for him to accidentally bump-fire the first time to start the chain reaction

2018-07-23 19:41:03 UTC

I mean, surely like most things, the first guy to discover bump fire did so by accident, right?

2018-07-23 19:41:17 UTC

The guy who made cheese first didn't know he was making cheese, he thought he was preserving milk.

2018-07-23 19:41:22 UTC

its also hard to see if he actually kept the trigger depressed or not. but even the vegas shooter couldn't maintain that consistent a rate of fire.

2018-07-23 19:41:25 UTC

hard to tell really

2018-07-23 19:41:40 UTC

it could have just been stuck in a slam-fire situation

2018-07-23 19:45:13 UTC

I just think that with the way the RSO was hanging around, the guy behind the gun must have been a total newbie. So I'm more inclined to guess user error than weapon malfunction.

2018-07-23 19:46:21 UTC

Also they need to fire that RSO. Dude should have known you don't stand next to a shooter, and especially not a new shooter.

2018-07-23 19:49:55 UTC

true, but if he hadn't things might have gotten worse if it was actually a run away gun and not his finger. dude would have dropped it otherwise

2018-07-23 19:52:19 UTC

If he had been behind the shooter he would have been less at risk, just as able to give instructions, and more able to take control. Notice another RSO comes up from behind at the end there.

2018-07-23 19:56:56 UTC

yeah idk. looked like before the instruct to his side grabbed the gun he was a second away from shooting the floor right at his feet

2018-07-23 19:57:08 UTC

regardless, shit happened that could have been bad

2018-07-23 20:01:42 UTC

Oh for sure. I'm glad nobody died. But I hope whatever problem was there got fixed. Either that gun got maintainenced or that shooter got a healthy tongue lashing.

"Speaking of soldiers breaking things, my uncle who was in the US Marines said if you locked a group of Marine privates in a room with 3 anvils, an hour later one anvil would be broken, another missing. and the third would be pregnant. I've always loved the imagery of that."
