it's a fascinating article

role of trains in the world wars is really worth reading about. In WW1, cheap railroads were built to the fronts, which made surprise attacks almost impossible. The defenders could see the attackers building a new line to the front, so the defenders could very easily prepare for the attack

and in WW2, Japan and Germany used railroads as both a way to reach the front and a way to occupy POWs

you may have heard of "the Railway of death" as one of WW2's worst war crimes

I've always wondered about that too. The only explanation I can think of is that if you're the type who does not give a fuck about being a normie it's a lot easier to pick up other niche interests. Guns, furry, anime, comics, etc. all have far more overlap in audience than one would suspect purely statistically.
