Well, I think it cuts both ways. If you're a shut-in (I know the feeling, since I was when I was 16), it's easy to look at nude imagery

so it becomes less special, and you seek out things with more meaning

"Follow-Me" eyes, a simple optical illusion that makes it so the eyes seemingly follow you wherever you are in the room, because they're a bit sunk-in so you never see the entire eye. Pretty standard stuff

So in Japan there is something of an obsession with Airsoft or "Survival / Peace Games" as they call it. So much so they have "fashion blog" where player model their gear. This is a pretty interesting contrast. It's so... Commercialized. Compare the attitude here with for example the attitude towards cosplay in the West. Apparently in Japan where and from whom you bought your stuff matters while in the West the end result when seen as a whole is the only thing that matters, and preferably you should make as much possible yourself or custom.
