What's the Canadian NFA really up to these days?

2018-12-15 02:50:18 UTC

NFA?

2018-12-15 02:50:19 UTC

I know they're not as well known as the NRA

2018-12-15 02:50:26 UTC

National Firearm Association I believe

2018-12-15 02:50:27 UTC

Ah

2018-12-15 02:50:47 UTC

I don't follow them down to that level so i'm not sure

2018-12-15 02:50:56 UTC

it gets confusing talking about Canadian NFA because it's easy to confuse with the National Firearms Act in the US

2018-12-15 02:51:04 UTC

Yeah lol

2018-12-15 02:51:41 UTC

The only thing I remember was they survived a hostile takeover and were becoming more Right to Bear Armsy

2018-12-15 02:52:03 UTC

Nice, i hope that happens to the NRA in the near future

2018-12-15 02:52:32 UTC

We have GOA for that but NRA has a lot more members

2018-12-15 02:53:05 UTC

When i start my new job i'm going to join the GOA, SAF, and VCDL(virginia gun rights org)

2018-12-15 02:54:00 UTC

Yeah, I've joined ISRA (Illinois State Rifle Association) partially to fund the fight in IL, but also to get access to M1's.

it's...

It's not going well

2018-12-15 02:54:16 UTC

How so

2018-12-15 02:54:45 UTC

In virginia we have good gun laws but the governor is anti gun and the state legislature is only 51R to 49D

2018-12-15 02:55:07 UTC

As much as our R-governor, Rauner, stalled the gun laws, he let some of them through.
And now the Legislature AND the governor is turning hard blue

2018-12-15 02:55:22 UTC

We also have state preemption so even though i live in the more liberal northern VA i get to enjoy the same laws as the rest of the state

2018-12-15 02:55:28 UTC

like
AWB by February kinda blue.

2018-12-15 02:55:33 UTC

Damn

2018-12-15 02:56:18 UTC

and of course, Chicago and the rest of illinois just... don't really like each other, so despite literally the entirety of the southern Illinois protesting, it's gonna get passed anyway

2018-12-15 02:56:29 UTC

oh yeah, and an ammo tax is coming up in the legislature too

2018-12-15 02:57:49 UTC

Oh yeah i think i read about that, 1 cent tax per round

2018-12-15 02:57:50 UTC

"Fuck you, .22lr shooters"

2018-12-15 02:58:08 UTC

and everyone knows the cent per round is gonna go up once it's passed

2018-12-15 02:58:32 UTC

Everyone I've talked to says somewhere between 5-7 cents per round

2018-12-15 02:59:25 UTC

Anything to push people away from exercising their rights

2018-12-15 02:59:42 UTC

Literally a poll tax

2018-12-15 02:59:47 UTC

like, for us in southern illinois, it's just annoying

2018-12-15 02:59:57 UTC

but for people trying to practice and have tight budgets for self defense

2018-12-15 03:00:01 UTC

it's possibly a death knell

2018-12-15 03:00:31 UTC

literally pushing the poor out

2018-12-15 03:06:29 UTC

The main reason i got into guns was the politics
I was dragged along by my grandparents to the march for our lives since we live in northern va so i went along with them and seeing the protestors pushed me away over to the pro gun side

2018-12-15 03:06:45 UTC

oh shit

2018-12-15 03:07:00 UTC

I had never really paid attention to the gun debate before and seeing that these people didnt value the 2nd amendment at all changed my mind

2018-12-15 03:07:07 UTC

funny, parkland really pushed me to finally get my FOID

2018-12-15 03:07:26 UTC

~~and wait 90 days to exercise my 2nd amendment right~~

2018-12-15 03:07:42 UTC

Lol

2018-12-15 03:08:06 UTC

I know in new york(may just be nyc) its a crime to touch a gun at all if you dont have a license

2018-12-15 03:08:28 UTC

Some places have really bad laws because the SCOTUS hasn't really taken gun cases

2018-12-15 03:08:38 UTC

Lower courts are allowed to get away with a lot

2018-12-15 03:08:55 UTC

kavanaugh didn't seem to change things much either
