True. However I feel that for the sake of history, it is the moral obligation of a dominate culture to preserve and archive the cultures they assimilate.
If you look at history, we always did the reverse
And that's what makes those instances where thing do survive, ever more precious.
The dominant culture colonised and destroyed the others, forcing them in one way or another to adapt to the dominant one

Considering the Japanese part of my family is from Hokkaido, it was just something I stumbled upon while looking into my family history.
