Most of those are made with ease of use in mind for the time period they were enstated. The inch -> foot -> yard system is because math is easier to do in your head with a base 12, farenheit is based on the temperature common folk are actually going to need to worry about, and month/day/year because it was much more common to say "January 1st, 2000" than "1st of January 2000".
Why would our notation of date be expected to conform to geometry anyway? That's as illogical as saying the one on the right is dumb because days go up to 31 and months only to 12, so month is the smallest number.

it was based on the standards of the time so they just never bothered changing it to metric

its easier to stick to something established that works than to adopt a new method and relearn everything

also many aspects of our society rely on English Standard and to change that might fuck some stuff up
