I am not much for isukai cause...
swordart
ugh
just saying it makes me have acid refux
Since now the people watching Goblin Slayer were either already fans of the LN and the manga
Call it wish fufilment
Goblin slayers just dark fantasy
atleast overlord was funny
in a "one punch man" sort of way
ANd Goblin slayer isnt an isekai
the whole "trapped in another world" anime genre feels overdone now. but thats what oversaturation of the market gets you.
Theres pleanty of those already
But it felt like it.
I mean to be honest its probably just another form of wish fufulment.
"That time I got reincarnated as a slime" will continue the comedic isukai trend
I bet alot of people in japan wish they were just taken to another realm
I watched inuyasha when i was a kid
Thats the only "trapped in another world" cartoon ive seen
It was interesting to be honest.
probably the first time I got used to a female lead.
but that predates the inuyasha cartoon.
but not the manga I think
japan is so strange but cool. but still confusing
A lot of people all over the world wish they were taken to another world, it's a really, really common fantasy. In the West you have stuff like Narnia and Harry Potter that spring to mind.
or never ending story if you are old like me
so it is possible to write good isekai stories that aren't just self-insertion wish-fulfilment, but the trend especially in Japan is definitely leaning towards milktoast protagonist people can relate to and insert as
Why does 30 feel old now?
oh yeah, neverending story too
while I haven't watched Neverending story in probably two decades, I think that's got a pretty bland and uninteresting protagonist as well
the world was interesting,
the main character not so much.
cullkens character in PAGEMASTER had more depth then the kid in neverending story
yeah, Gmork... that swamp of sorrows... the scary sphinxes you had to cross between...
the HORSE
had more pathos then the kid
artox
that was the horses name right?
Uh well.
I would have said Arturax
but as I said, two decades
