I think it's a bit of both. If it's environment then why didn't Jamaica, Bahamas and other countries which were European colonies that have European ideas and froms of goverment and culture be dominate untile they got their indepdance and then became africanized becase they were areas that were run by blacks and populated with blacks.

They were colonised by Europeans who built africa.

Colonization does NOT imply cooperation with the subjugated people.

Before Europeans arived africans didn't even have the wheel, a writen language, a court system, books, ect.
