MSDOS

2018-03-09 18:54:07 UTC

DOS still alive and well under all the set dressing

2018-03-09 18:54:15 UTC

yeah lol

2018-03-09 18:54:59 UTC

had to run through it for a week one summer when my OS shit the bed on vacation, backing up important files and trying to repair the OS with a repair CD that WASN'T an install disk

2018-03-09 18:55:13 UTC

Oh ouch

2018-03-09 18:55:29 UTC

because Microsoft thought that was helpful to just have the repair utility that never works on a CD and leave you without a windows install disk

2018-03-09 18:55:53 UTC

C:// shutdown

2018-03-09 18:56:10 UTC

I think was what we hide to have to type in to turn it off

2018-03-09 18:56:26 UTC

I THINK don’t quote me it’s been WAY too long lol

2018-03-09 18:57:44 UTC

but, it could launch command prompt and get me into basically DOS, although they changed up the kernel in NT so its not exactly DOS.

2018-03-09 18:58:15 UTC

Yeah, DOS use to be simple lol, I was fiddling with it at 5

2018-03-09 18:58:53 UTC

I use to be the kid at school that would shut the computer down in the kindergarten room when I didn’t want anyone else playing

2018-03-09 18:59:08 UTC

kidpix was mine only! XD LMFAO

2018-03-09 18:59:36 UTC

oh god, kidpix

2018-03-09 18:59:41 UTC

The teacher use to get SO MAD

2018-03-09 18:59:59 UTC

>when <#398973785426100234> turns into <#399308558354874381>

i blame the furries

2018-03-09 19:00:12 UTC

and then would ask what happened, I use to say, I don’t know, it just went black

2018-03-09 19:00:24 UTC

XD LMFAO! yeah really right

2018-03-09 19:00:37 UTC

And the teacher would have to call tech

2018-03-09 19:01:21 UTC

When I look back on it, everyone knows how to work one, back then no one knew and had to call tech for the smallest things

2018-03-09 19:01:34 UTC

kids are always more technologically savvy than older generations. Lucky people, brains empty so they all this room to absorb new stuff

2018-03-09 19:02:05 UTC

after working IT, i can attest they still don't know how to work anything

2018-03-09 19:02:16 UTC

Yeah lol, I think our generation has the best advantage, we were kind of there at the start of it being mainstream in homes

2018-03-09 19:02:41 UTC

there is a reason the first question is always "have you tried turning it on and off" and "is it plugged in"

2018-03-09 19:03:03 UTC

My dad has been able to keep up, along with most of his gaming friends, but the vast majority of his generation doesn’t get it lol

2018-03-09 19:03:06 UTC

YES!

2018-03-09 19:03:52 UTC

i am honestly amazed at the number of people who can operate a smart phone and not know how to do ANYTHING related to technology. Truly a testament to the UI designers.

2018-03-09 19:04:09 UTC

Thank you! See I tried explaining this to my dad, he was so mad when he gets asked if it’s plugged in and to try turning it off and on again; his generation is the reason lol

2018-03-09 19:04:21 UTC

not just his generation

2018-03-09 19:04:47 UTC

the number of people, of all generation, who call with a problem that was quickly fixed with turning it on or off, or checking if it has power

2018-03-09 19:04:48 UTC

Yeah me too, my goddaughter can work a smartphone in and out, but to work anything else, she doesn’t know

2018-03-09 19:05:15 UTC

No I know, I usually just say his Gen because for a lot it gets the point across

2018-03-09 19:05:44 UTC

oh my mom was like that. She couldn't figure out how to work the damn TV remote, while me and my dad are the tech savvy people. Meanwhile she was the first one to get a smart phone and knew how to use it faster than me and my dad.

2018-03-09 19:05:58 UTC

we just looked at each other and were like "what is wrong with this picture.'

2018-03-09 19:06:13 UTC

Yeah it’s super weird! XD LOL

2018-03-09 19:06:35 UTC

and yet, she would still turn to us when something went wrong and we are just like "the hell you want us to do? Do we look like apple repair?"

2018-03-09 19:06:56 UTC

that’s like my mom, she can fix and work a printer, fax, scanner, and quite a few programs

2018-03-09 19:07:09 UTC

Can’t remember how to save anything for the life of her

2018-03-09 19:07:20 UTC

XD LMFAO!!!
