was that the lessons were always longer than they needed to be.

to my knowledge adhd and high IQ are not mutually exclusive. may rather be to the contrary

People with ADHD are generally able to jump from topic to topic and absorb.

i never had a problem with focusing in school because hyper was more a problem for me, i never even wanted to focus let alone try and fail to

Well, among other things, the school system is pretty archaic.

regarding learning with adhd, i've noticed a few different routes that can work. Either increase the sensory input around you to overload the constant processing (ie letting complex music run), or just increase the speed of a recording you're watching (ie a lecture) to force hyperfocus on that. include headphones too

i agree, the school system is archaic in some ways and regressive in others

know a few people for whom either works. the former is annoying when in semi-public places though <.<

listening to the school my parents grew up in, i see flaws in it, but less flaws than now even

school system, here in germany too, is completely incompatible with high IQ kids, autistic kids, ad(h)d kids etc.

they do not check which learning types work best for which kinds of kids

i think the american school system is incompatible with any children reguardless of their neuological growth

The problem state side is that most states teach to a specific standardized test

the social envirnement of the public education system is fucking anarchy, like at best your punished for violence but beyond that little to no direction is given to the social structure of childrens lifes is given

My elementary school had a secret pedophile teacher. Woman in her late 50s. Thinking back about it, the school knew about it

I got pushed down a flight of stairs one time. The principal actually told me that it was my fault, put me in ISS for the rest of the day, and sent the Athletics kid that did it back to class.

even if... it was your fault... tripping and such... why would that justify putting you in detention or whatever that ISS means (we don't have that in germany)
