Things end up on the trending tab because they got millions of views in a day or two. These are the videos that most users are actually watching and these videos are all advertiser friendly.

I like Tim. I like his content. I watch basically every video he makes, and I genuinely think he's a good person. But YT could lose a hundred Tims and it wouldn't make a blip.
