And Steven Universe is animated in Korea, but it's not Korean

2018-08-25 01:28:35 UTC

The lines are a bit blurred sometimes I’d say

2018-08-25 01:29:09 UTC

Also the French make good stuff

2018-08-25 01:29:28 UTC

Wakfu is a great not-quite-anime

2018-08-25 01:29:36 UTC

Or as my friend calls it “bread anime”

2018-08-25 01:29:50 UTC

Wakfu is my one of my faves

2018-08-25 01:29:55 UTC

i mean, P&S is as inspired by american animation and culture as avatar is by japanese animation and culture

2018-08-25 01:29:59 UTC

I’m watching the newest season

2018-08-25 01:30:42 UTC

I’ll only watch in subs though cause the French voice acting is better for some of the characters

2018-08-25 01:30:46 UTC

Like Nox

2018-08-25 01:30:57 UTC

He sounds better in French

2018-08-25 01:31:10 UTC

More evil crazy broken guy

2018-08-25 01:31:18 UTC

if it isn't made for the japanese market, it isn't anime

2018-08-25 01:31:20 UTC

simple

2018-08-25 01:31:20 UTC

English one is generic villain af

2018-08-25 01:31:45 UTC

let people choose their community. There's people that only like American Cartoons

2018-08-25 01:31:47 UTC

let them

2018-08-25 01:32:08 UTC

I like Anime and French Animation mostly

2018-08-25 01:32:18 UTC

American hasn’t impressed me lately

2018-08-25 01:32:22 UTC

sure, just don't call everything "Anime"

2018-08-25 01:32:23 UTC

It's totally OK for people who only like one type of animation to just like that one type. I don't think anyone is saying otherwise.

2018-08-25 01:32:44 UTC

But saying this Crunchyroll thing is anime just isn't true.

2018-08-25 01:32:49 UTC

I don’t really

2018-08-25 01:33:03 UTC

@Atkins that's what I said though

2018-08-25 01:33:09 UTC

I only like animation with good plot

Personally, I don't treat the term "anime" as a sacred cow since it is a term used outside of Japan to distinguish it from other animation, whereas in Japan it is used for all animation. But I will up hold as technical term to distinguish anime as a spicific subset of cartoons made by the Japanese (disregarding that they sometimes cheaply outsourced labour) usually for the Japanese primarily (even if it might not be exclusively). *I type slow*

2018-08-25 01:33:29 UTC

anime is a western definition

2018-08-25 01:33:35 UTC

PLOT

2018-08-25 01:33:44 UTC

use it with the intent it was created for the west

2018-08-25 01:33:45 UTC

Diddies

2018-08-25 01:33:50 UTC

otherwise call them "cartoons"

2018-08-25 01:34:10 UTC

I think when it comes to art that trying to make concrete 100% definitions to define and categorize is often futile and pointless

2018-08-25 01:34:45 UTC

where is the line between comic and manga

2018-08-25 01:34:46 UTC

More PLOT

2018-08-25 01:35:22 UTC

Manga is written the opposite direction

2018-08-25 01:35:24 UTC

Same as anime, made by the Japanese for the Japanese

2018-08-25 01:36:31 UTC

there are korean comics you couldn't distinguish from japanesse by anything else but names of characters

2018-08-25 01:36:37 UTC

would you consider them manga ?
