You can go the entire game without a single glory kill

You're not forced to use them, but the game is balanced around them existing.

But yeah I much prefer it that way to a game that forces them like Skyrim

there are side by side videos where people shoot enemies on the same difficulty in OG DOOM and nuDOOM, and the nuDOOM enemies *all* have extra health

it makes sense for the design, since a lot of DOOM 2016 is room-corridor-room with limited enemy spawns and not a massive fucking maze with ludicrous enemy counts
