This one's good

2018-09-18 13:20:14 UTC

I seen that one overused, I don't think it's a good example

2018-09-18 13:20:42 UTC

first of all, because more than 50% of muslims agree with Sharia Law

2018-09-18 13:20:49 UTC

so the 10% value is too low

2018-09-18 13:21:12 UTC

also, that argument can be used for an authoritarian state

2018-09-18 13:21:25 UTC

if you just change the example to anything else

2018-09-18 13:27:23 UTC

If only we could convince every sjw to eat a handful of those m&ms. We could Thanos half the 'States.

2018-09-18 13:27:33 UTC

or at least a quarter.

2018-09-18 13:30:27 UTC

Anyway, we should try to convert the Muslims that want to and protect them from the Extremists....

2018-09-18 13:31:13 UTC

Played that game before, had a shitty ending.

2018-09-18 13:32:20 UTC

Convert them to what? Christianity? So they can bastardize it and strengthen the old testiment version of tradition?

2018-09-18 13:36:55 UTC

anti-immigrationists should never have to stoop as long as complaining about terrorism, its just a gateway drug to losing the argument and the slow transition of a public that understands the problems with immigration, multiculturalism, and the brain drain; to a population that only thinks a reason to control their borders is to keep out people who will hurt them, in this mostly peaceful time we live in

2018-09-18 13:38:38 UTC

Well I'm just saying conversion isnt the therapy. Western culture failed at it through draconian resolve and little regard for life back in medieval times, and the Muslim world isn't far from that now. They'd make the same mistakes we did.

2018-09-18 13:44:20 UTC

we had more reguard for life in the medieval than we do now

2018-09-18 13:45:59 UTC

people care about suicide and suffering now out of an almost purely mechanical responce to something as a culture we see as "bad" rather than any actual thought or consern about it

2018-09-18 13:50:08 UTC

look at the way we react to mass death. the boston massicre sparked a revolution in the 18th century, now you have to kill x20 more people and take out 2 monuments in order to get the united states just to go to war with a pile of sand for profitiering and waste even more of our lives

2018-09-18 13:53:55 UTC

Does that mean we have less regard for life? Starting a ln armed conflict will result in mass casualties any way you slice it and there is no guarantee you will not wake a sleeping gaint and lose. Perhaps we are more resistance to enemies trying to gloat people into a conflict by using dirty tactics in favor of less violent routes.

2018-09-18 13:58:11 UTC

i actually think the regard for life in growing in the united state right now because we MIGHT actually resist going to war again in the middle east when its inevitbly put on our table again

2018-09-18 13:58:39 UTC

politicians might not but we the people might

2018-09-18 14:05:27 UTC

though its important to note a regard for life isint just about wanting to stay alive, its also about doing something with that life, not being callous to death while also being couragious enough to live in the face of death

2018-09-18 14:06:49 UTC

Ever heard the saying "A single death is a tragedy; a Million deaths is a statistic"?

2018-09-18 14:08:34 UTC

with the 24/7 news cycle it applies very much all the time today, we're surrounded by "millions" of deaths on a daily basis, and the human brain isn't adapted to handle and empathize with numbers that large

2018-09-18 14:10:44 UTC

it doesn't mean we care more or care less about deaths than we used to, just that see more of them now and can't mentally handle it all

2018-09-18 14:18:35 UTC

"you say a truck load of soldiers is gonna blow up and everyone is fine because it's all part of the plan. But say one little grandmother is gonna die and everyone loses their minds"

2018-09-18 14:31:11 UTC

@Crow isnt that a quote from Stalin?

2018-09-18 14:31:19 UTC

It is I recall

2018-09-18 14:31:25 UTC

And it still rings true

2018-09-18 14:31:42 UTC

Empathy is harder to achieve when the subject is only a number on paper

2018-09-18 14:32:00 UTC

Of course he would say something like that. Big brain

2018-09-18 14:32:15 UTC

I mean, its kinda his place to know that

2018-09-18 14:32:25 UTC

He was responsible for tens of millions of deaths

2018-09-18 14:32:32 UTC

So he was probably asked thatquestion
