So it's only natural we cut the process short
This btw would not only stop aging but as cells start behaving properly again even in already old people would reverse some of the damage
No wrinkly skin, brittle bone, weaker muscle strength etc.
Of course even this wouldn't make someone immortal. There's certain chemicals the human body doesn't get rid of since they accumulate only in small quantities and ppl usually die before they become an issue
They become an issue if you live much longer than people do now
And nothing stops people from dying in a car crash or whatever
Given enough time anyone will die eventually
In the end I firmly believe immortality is a curse and goes against what we are and what made us great. Limited life span requires you to make effort and your time on this plane count. Without "end" there is simply stagnation.
That's just my opinion tho.
I actually think shorter lifespans are typical of more savage societies
Getting rid of old people in a humane manner would free up all sorts of ressources, allow us to retain some of our greatest minds and keep them working on things not just for decades but possibly centuries
It's not true immortality either way
Given a thousand years the chances of dying to an accident are actually pretty high
The downside with that I guess is that people would become (from our pov) irrationally risk averse
What would people do with their lives though
Work I guess
I assume what they do now
Kill themselves
Forever
The 180 year old Amazon wagie
I doubt people would kill themselves out of boredom
If people lives longer that would probably make wealth inequality worse
There's so much stuff to learn and whatnot that you could pass well more than a millennium just reading stuff
@Mr. Nessel so much media to CONSOOM
Yeah sort of
all the shows you need to catch up on
Anyway this would also bring back Malthusian conditions
Old people actually commit suicide at a higher rate
Brainlets soon will be unable to earn enough to buy food
@EYEFORKNOWLEDGE156 Might be because their bodies are failing
Imagine a person obsessed with sports being unable to pursue it any longer
Being forced to sit in a retirement home
etc.
I don’t want to be on this rotating hell forever
You wouldn't be
Just look at the chance you have to die in a car crash every year you're alive
Then extrapolate
Unless you're highly risk averse eventually somethign will get you
I also doubt that most people who object now would refuse to die any give day
Even if they intend to eventually go from some philosophical abstract reason
I don’t want to live forever
