It's not true immortality either way
Given a thousand years the chances of dying to an accident are actually pretty high
The downside with that I guess is that people would become (from our pov) irrationally risk averse
What would people do with their lives though
Work I guess
I assume what they do now
Kill themselves
Forever
The 180 year old Amazon wagie
I doubt people would kill themselves out of boredom
They are already doing it
If people lives longer that would probably make wealth inequality worse
There's so much stuff to learn and whatnot that you could pass well more than a millennium just reading stuff
@Mr. Nessel so much media to CONSOOM
Yeah sort of
all the shows you need to catch up on
Anyway this would also bring back Malthusian conditions
Old people actually commit suicide at a higher rate
Brainlets soon will be unable to earn enough to buy food
@EYEFORKNOWLEDGE156 Might be because their bodies are failing
Being forced to sit in a retirement home
etc.
I don’t want to be on this rotating hell forever
You wouldn't be
Just look at the chance you have to die in a car crash every year you're alive
Then extrapolate
Unless you're highly risk averse eventually somethign will get you
I also doubt that most people who object now would refuse to die any give day
Even if they intend to eventually go from some philosophical abstract reason
I don’t want to live forever
Most of life is really mundane really
Yeah but would you ever kill yourself over it
Depends
Probably not though
If forced to live another thousand years or dying this moment what would you choose
Die
I would choose to live
Really you want another thousand years of work and school?
Definitely preferable over death
Besides I could save up
