now Hamhock is doing a weekly anti-hate podcast
with this guy, it's first time as farce, then as farce again
the absolute state of american "conservatism"
all of it written in complete seriousness

I don't see anything wrong with what he wrote, not in the paragraphs I read.
```But the less-exotic silliness is more immediately relevant. That silliness has a familiar source: It is the fact that specialists reliably overestimate the importance of their own fields. Lawyers believe that the way to reform the world is to change the law; it was a poet who thoughts poets “the unacknowledged legislators of the world”; the self-aggrandizing character of journalists is well-known; scientists often take a utopian view of science and erroneously believe that science can supplant politics, relieving us of the burden of disagreement; members of Congress, who spend their time sitting on committees, reflexively propose to solve problems by convening a new committee.```
This in particular is a good way to put it.
muh liberalism
Yes.
But do you have an argument to accompany that opinion?
lol do you know where you are
he's criticizing us
Sounds more like he's criticizing you. I'm one if the libertarians you invited over to enrich your gene pool
>unironic libertarians
being libertarian in year of our lord 2020 A.D. 😂
Vermuele: `I want to suggest a principle of immigration priority that should, I hope, be broadly acceptable or at least intriguing for all right-thinking persons concerned that current American immigration policy is racist and classist, explicitly or implicitly, de jure or de facto. The principle is to give lexical priority to confirmed Catholics, all of whom will jump immediately to the head of the queue. Yes, some will convert in order to gain admission; this is a feature, not a bug.
This principle will disproportionately favor immigrants from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. (Note here that the priority is for actual Catholics, not for applicants from “historically Catholic countries”; relatively few Western Europeans will pass through the eye of the needle, and the Irish will be almost totally excluded). It will disproportionately favor the poor, and will draw no distinction between those seeking asylum based on a fear of persecution, and those fleeing “mere” economic hardship. It will in effect require opening the southern border of the United States, although immigration from Canada will rightly become a rare and difficult event, at least if we do not count a small subset of Quebecois.`
lol peak internet Catholicism
imagine unironically wanting to be ruled by bergoglio the communist
<:pepejoy:611733498499432472>
personally, I think that immigration should be limited to based nationalist white Buddhists
this idea **should**, I am certain, be broadly acceptable or at least intriguing for all right-thinking persons.
@rock on, Ānanda Ugggghhhh
This is why my WigNat friends make fun of me.
This is the Catholic version of those "I love pot and porn" articles that dominate libertarian outlets.
I think it really is the same disorder causing it; pathological need to allay the concerns of your left-wing friends. We can only hope that the next generation of right-wingers will not contract it.
Papists
Blah
Catholics are a fith colum in the US
If that's the passage you take offense at, then I get you. Especially with these reasons. Last time, I think I skipped too much of the first paragraph, the parts where he talks of racism and classicism etc.
Immigration should be invitation-only, and the one who did the inviting (my english fails me at the moment) should be held liable for damages caused. Under a hoppean system, that should work very well.
Don't remind me of this crap. Libertarians ought to argue from the highest expressions of freedom, the freedom of conscience first of all, down to the lower forms, not vice versa, which is what they have often done.
one thing that's nice about the chinavirus is that it's revealed just how worthless 90% of news cycles are
