It’s cool to think about but I don’t think it’s provable

2020-02-18 20:38:19 UTC

But it seems cool

2020-02-18 20:38:20 UTC

I actually buy into creatio ex nihilo but I'm not an atheists

2020-02-18 20:40:21 UTC

Basically my view of it is creatio ex nihilo. It is unordered, therefore a state of chaos (imagine an infinite space withotu rules like the laws of physics and thing randomly coming in and out of existence). Some things emerge out of chaos which then impose order on part of chaos

2020-02-18 20:41:14 UTC

Those sort of bubbles of order would be universes and since chaos is scaleless/functionally infinite by extension so is the number of universes and variations thereof

2020-02-18 20:41:21 UTC

I’m honestly apathetic about the origin of life personally

2020-02-18 20:42:11 UTC

**Let's create life**

2020-02-18 20:42:55 UTC

**Let's create life with intelligence, then rival them in an eternal battle for supremacy**

2020-02-18 20:43:48 UTC

Pretty funny

2020-02-18 20:43:51 UTC

life is just a cluster of cells tbh

2020-02-18 20:43:58 UTC

Wait

2020-02-18 20:44:01 UTC

It's more than cells

2020-02-18 20:44:05 UTC

Cluster of **A t o m s**

2020-02-18 20:44:15 UTC

And electricity

2020-02-18 20:44:28 UTC

If the gnostics are right bodies are just prisons in essence

2020-02-18 20:44:58 UTC

I agree with them on that at least as far as consciousness is concerned

2020-02-18 20:45:10 UTC

The real living thing is the brain, the body is just a vessal for it.

**THAT IS WHY WE MUST PUT THE BRAIN INTO JARS AND MAKE MECHS**

2020-02-18 20:45:23 UTC

Eventually

2020-02-18 20:46:24 UTC

I recently had this idea of using Musk's neuralink and wireless connection to create a network of artifically kept alive frontal lobes

2020-02-18 20:46:48 UTC

what do you mean you agree with gnostics as far as consciousness is concerned

2020-02-18 20:47:05 UTC

You trying to make the labotomites from F:NV?

2020-02-18 20:47:46 UTC

Robots that have brains in them, which are artificially kept alive.

2020-02-18 20:47:47 UTC

Well if I give somebody brain damage, his soul remains undamaged but his existence on earth being limited by a prison just gets worse

2020-02-18 20:48:02 UTC

No body is as good as consciousness unconstrained

2020-02-18 20:48:39 UTC

Though the gnostics would say material existence itself is cruel and whatnot but I'm more life affirming than that

2020-02-18 20:49:56 UTC

They also have other weird ideas about a monad and an imperfect monotheistic creator god which is cruel called the demiurge

2020-02-18 21:17:03 UTC

i thought you were an atheist nessel, guess your a deist then

2020-02-18 21:43:08 UTC

No

2020-02-18 21:43:39 UTC

Technically a polytheist but I don't actively worship or make a big deal out of it

2020-02-18 21:44:56 UTC

Deism would imply me buying into the prime mover argument, which I don't

2020-02-18 22:01:12 UTC

I think a cyclical universe has been disproved

2020-02-18 22:01:26 UTC

the universe will die a heat death before it reunifies through gravity

2020-02-18 22:03:51 UTC

The expansion of the universe I think is something beyond what we can concieve

2020-02-18 22:03:57 UTC

as it implies there is something beyond it

2020-02-18 23:10:53 UTC

yeah but expansion might be fake and gay

2020-02-18 23:11:15 UTC

just because it is expanding at an accelerating rate (allegedly) now doesn't mean that will always be true

2020-02-19 00:14:26 UTC

There's a lot of uncertainty in it
There's many ppl who buy the expansion theory, others believe it'll shrink again and collapse, others with a big rip and all sorts of weirdness

2020-02-19 00:14:52 UTC

I don't really believe a lot of the super-weird astrophysics stuff anymore

2020-02-19 00:15:28 UTC

I could see the argument for expansion based on the observable distances etc. and background radiation

2020-02-19 00:16:02 UTC

At a certain point it just becomes a masturbation of mathematicians

2020-02-19 00:16:16 UTC

yeah well the thing is, we can't actually observe the expansion of space like that
