Sort of
The European federal state even in right wing edition is a project that is almost utopic in nature.
You would have to have some extremely strong "glue" to hold this thing together.
It's not really utopian but many people don't like the idea since it's not nationalist enough but supranational or they lack imagination
I'm gonna agree with Wisgoth on this one. The "glue" would kill the real cultural diversity that exists in Europe in the process.
These objections are really basic when you consider how nationstates formed in the first place
Or how long people could just rule places as foreigners without needing some moral imperative
Europe is definitely culturally similiar enough for some sort of federal state
Arguably certain groups would even get a better deal out of it culturally speaking
Think of the Catalans who are virtually dominated by Spaniards and prolly will actually go extinct as something distinct without independence
Regional dialects etc. especially in France
Let's not forget how modern Russia looks like ethnically, not to mention the Soviet Union used to look like
Neither of those last two are particularly enviable
The point is that with Russia and the Soviets there wasn't/isn't even a need for any sort of feeling of commonality
The "glue" is nonexistant
Compare that to an EU where many shitty people explicitly feel European and even the ones who like to hate it usually cheer on other countries as they elect better governments
Hell the EU doesn't even have a dominant ethnic group; "Germs control everything" is mostly just a meme, unlike Yugoslavia which was Serb dominated, Austria Hungary which was dominated by Austrians and Hungarians (surprise surprise) and (Soviet) Russia with Russians (nvm Stalin being a Georgian or the Semites in the party)
@vexmasina44 Redpilled or just retarded?
@Salvation_Crucifix its kek they can burn 33 bodies in 33 hours for 33 months
@Mr. Nessel you do realise the austrians didnt share their power with Hungary out of goodness of their hearts. the hungarians were blackmailing the austrians with civil war if they were not treated as equals.
eitherway austro hungary was nit sustainable in long term since they simply had too many peoples and cultures within their borders
The Austrians won a civil war and then came to an arrangement because of the empress being a Hungarophile
those sorts of nations dont last long
There is partial truth to "Germans control everything". Germany is one of the biggest if not the biggest exporter to other member countries so economically speaking Germany is de facto economic king. I'm might be mistaken because I'm not completely up to date with everything in this regard. Correct me if necessary.
Austria Hungary lasted until forcibly broken apart
it was literaly breaking apart during ww1
lmoa
@Korin Dickman Germany has the least members of parliament per capita, one comissioner just as even coutnries that are barely even countries like Luxembourg or Malta and we're only the most important nation since reunification
all minorities within AH wanted their own nation states except those shitty slovenians and croats whom were massive wheraboos
France basically set policy for most of the time
Ok I see.
Not to mention barely anything gets passed in the EU because of unanimity
Only stupid stuff like regulations on the curvature of bananas (which have theri reason but why not have real protectionism instead ffs)
i woldnt exactly say that it was wignats whom always wanted a european union. it is rather the french, italians and gers who were obsessed about utopian ideals of recreating the roman empire.
It's been a thing since WW1 at the very least
Mostly in Austria for some reason
the european unio was always about germanic and italic political and economic hegemony over europe
Not really
Germany had plans for central Europe
The idea was present way before ww1 (mentioned Otton III).
