Most homocides are with firearms
In places like Japan they track mass stabbings because guns are restricted so knives are the next best thing.
For reasons which should be obvious
They also have a sword fetish.
March 2014, 130 people are wounded or killed in a knife attack in china
Japan’s homocide rate is very low but their suicide rate is higher than any country
And China will not stop talking about the mass stabbing in the far west
Yeah, that
They consider it their 9/11
Id rather have a country where people kill each other than themselves
Um
At least you're responsible for yourself
I'd hate to be killed by an outside agency
Suicide is at least concentual
130 people and they consider that on the level of 9/11? Cute.
Yes, they do.. Because is it politically expedient.
You have to understand that china is an authoritarian police state
The Middle East is looking at us like “3000 casualties? That’s cute.”
Then again, Malt, we considered Oklahoma City to be our "9/11" before 9/11
This exact kind of thing is what the government is supposed to prevent
Oklahoma was at least a Federal building blown up. I also don't remember much back then about the response.
China harps on the Uighur knife incident because it fits their narrative that the Uighurs are terrorists and need to be put down
Who was in that federal building? Children. A child care!
If people are killing each other it means they're angry. If they're killing themselves it means they have no hope .
That Ryder truck went off right next to the child care. It was awful.
Id prefer to live in an angry nation than one without hope.
@Blackhawk342 - word
Still, I don't like the idea of dying to someone else's tantrum
No one does and thats why we take precautions
The real solutions wont be economic ones, they will be social
thats what a personal firearm is for
force equalizer
Additionally, if you take a look at mass shootings in the US youll find that around 1990 they increase in both number of incidents and casualties per incident
Prior to the 1980s most shootings were limited to a handful of casualties and didnt cross the threshold for mass shootings
until you go back to the 20s
In 1990 the gun free zone act was passed through congress. Schools and other public spaces became no gun zones for private citizens.
1990's saw the assault weapon ban too no?
yeap it went through in 1994 i think
thats what the wiki for it says
The gun free zone act was supposed to prevent anger focused shootings in schools by removing the tool from the area. Theory being that if they didnt have immedate access to a gun theyd cool off and decide not to kill.
