The state has power, not rights

2018-11-15 18:52:32 UTC

Rights come from thought and exist once practiced in reality

2018-11-15 18:52:48 UTC

If you give big companys rights, so does a state as its essentially just a bigger company (though their product is more like protection and enforcement of the law).

2018-11-15 18:53:01 UTC

They are the fundamentals for human survival

2018-11-15 18:53:22 UTC

@Stefan Payne Its not the company its the individual who owns the company

2018-11-15 18:53:49 UTC

He has property rights and the company is a extension of them but it does not have rights itself

2018-11-15 18:54:10 UTC

How the business is managed and who owns it is a bit more complicated

2018-11-15 18:54:21 UTC

And the State has sovreign rights...

2018-11-15 18:54:27 UTC

Elaborate

2018-11-15 18:55:07 UTC

it has the right to enforce the law for all citizen and to punish the people that violate the law. In some cases throw those people out.

2018-11-15 18:55:26 UTC

Thats not a right its a purpose we gave it

2018-11-15 18:55:57 UTC

Just as a company can earn profit it does not have a right to earn profit but its its purpose

2018-11-15 18:56:46 UTC

Rights are limits placed on the government by the governed

2018-11-15 18:57:38 UTC

I would argue against that but you probably define rights a different way

2018-11-15 18:57:48 UTC

The gouvernment still has the right to determine who lives in it and who doesn't.

2018-11-15 18:57:59 UTC

It has the ability

2018-11-15 18:58:01 UTC

It doesnt have a right to do that

2018-11-15 18:58:06 UTC

Not the right

2018-11-15 18:58:20 UTC

Define rights so I know you are talking about

2018-11-15 18:58:28 UTC

^

2018-11-15 18:59:53 UTC

A right is something you have and can sue others if they violate it.

2018-11-15 19:00:15 UTC

?

2018-11-15 19:00:24 UTC

Thats a very collective definition

2018-11-15 19:00:31 UTC

That means to you rights are fluid

2018-11-15 19:00:49 UTC

Also society determines the rights

2018-11-15 19:01:56 UTC

and something nobody can take from you.

2018-11-15 19:02:04 UTC

Mine is rights come in these forms that exist from what humans need to live

2018-11-15 19:02:05 UTC

So life can't be a right because if someone kills you, you can't sue them :^)

2018-11-15 19:02:29 UTC

Invariably all Rights could be taken away, quite easily.

2018-11-15 19:02:35 UTC

They must be able to own property think which speech is a extension of this pursue happiness life liberty

2018-11-15 19:02:56 UTC

These are all requirements of humans survival

2018-11-15 19:03:42 UTC

Individual, exclusive property is not a survival requirement. Groups have owned property for ages

2018-11-15 19:04:13 UTC

Sure but people who havent produced relied on the other man who did

2018-11-15 19:04:20 UTC

Or thought

2018-11-15 19:04:46 UTC

One can find a cave based on percepts but to build shelter he must think

2018-11-15 19:05:18 UTC
2018-11-15 19:05:52 UTC

The people who unfocus their mind and dont think or produce are subhuman to add to that to produce one must be able to think

2018-11-15 19:14:03 UTC

You don't require all that much beyond the basics to survive though. That's why many traditions last as long as they do- there's no need to change them. It wasn't necessarily to build a car, for instance, even though the impact of automobiles has been massive

2018-11-15 19:14:30 UTC

@Beemann Except it improved the quality of life

2018-11-15 19:14:51 UTC

Which we need to survive
