I dont know if this can be defined as a actual value but it will lead to stagnation
Well you could value privacy, nonintervention and social seclusion
Or maybe the way in which you fight for higher values is to remove your contribution from society
A sort of NEET Galt
I get skeptical of anyone who values society or status
Because of the incoherent morality its hard to separate those from their actual values
@Beemann Howard Roark was a neet in the Fountainhead
I think there's a lot of people who small v value society and status
But either way you cant control people so this is a irrational value from what ive seen
Also I dont understand the want for status and most people want the underlying things that come from it
But if we're talking about Values I think you're mostly left with collectivists
Its confusing to separate them and the post modern morality
That's the thing, status is utility
It has its uses but for what is that utility for?
Achieving larger goals
On a personal level that is
Like say you want to get rid of an unjust law
Yes of your own but thats done through trade and status you earn pursuing something normally
You need people to vote you in, which means you need respect and trust
Some people like the control it brings overall tbh
I always get skeptical of those people
I wouldn't take such a relativistic notion of values tbh
No it should be all information rests on the pre supposing aside from the axioms
Of course you can contradict this and compartmentalize but look what the logical extreme is how does this poison relate to my survival or my health
It has nothing to tie it together
I recommend if you have time reading the virtue of selfishness its only 100 pages
By the way everything derives from reality in some way
Again, I don't think survival and health are the be all, end all. I think the loss of multiple seemingly obsolete social institutions and their impact on society is proof of that
Which is where I find myself briefly on the Peterson path before turning off onto a different trail when he starts diving into religion
Elaborate
Im not familiar
Well we're currently in an age of unbridled technological prowess
It has never been easier to do most tasks we have as part of our overall survival
Yes thanks to Aristotle
And yet we live in an age of loneliness and existential crisis. Young men are committing suicide, dropping out of society, and joining cults
Young women are reporting lower and lower levels of happiness/satisfaction overall
Thats due to altruism, nihilism, and lack of philosophy
Man needs philosophy to survive
Nihilism and altruism are products of philosophy, not a lack thereof
