like if you go for a gun license to buy an AR-15, you have to go for an interview with the police, they check your lock box to make sure its metal and good.. they interview 2 friends and your doctor - and then after all of that, the cheif of police has the final say, and needs no reason to say no
actually for an Ar-15 you may need some amount of tactical training as well

same here in some states. but here we have the second amendment so you have a chance to appeal it with a court and get that police chief fired
i think whats interesting is the cultural difference aspect... like if they ask you "why do you want a gun" and you reply defence - thats insta-NO
because at that point you are buying the gun for the purpose that some day you will use it to kill or shoot at someone... it may be that you will do that anyway.. you just cant buy it for the "purpose" of that
yeah, because we don't trust that even 1 officer will get to us in time to help, yet alone 10 and your version of swat if the person has a gun
I think theres is little to no worry about guns in the UK.. so I dont think anyone is thinking "I need one for defence" .. also guns are viewed a bit differently here... like .. in gangs you are a "p*ssy" if you need a gun.. kinda thing

I just did a google search for "Tommy Robinson arrested" . The first 4 articles I found were from: The Sun, Evening Standard, Mirror and Independent. Unless I am mistaken all are UK news sources. WHen I clicked the link to the article the Sun, Evening Standard and Independent articles came up but when I clicked on the one for the Mirror, the article does not come up
people are twitter are reporting there is media ban on him
maybe its just related to the ban on the gang trial so it depends on how the articles are reporting on his arrest?
