I think the blackout was that there were so many defendants that they couldn't try them all at once and didn't want the outcome of the first trial affecting the second one

hence the blackout

but still, how would TR know he couldn't do what he did

he was media

he was covering an event

and he got arrested

prior record/shit be damned

If he had been informed he wouldnt be in jail

he knew, because thats what he was arrested for in the first place

right
