but out of all the places with healthy tech industries Austin and Denver are prett ymuch the only places I think are viable. Everywhere else is too crazy, too expensive, too urbanized, or some combination
Can confirm, would not advise moving to chicago at the moment
when **would** you advise moving to chicago tbh
Austin and Denver...not coincidentally the places most in danger of turning their states into California 2.
To much consternation of the natives.
As someone who lived in Austin for 5 years.
yeah I'm going to be pretty peeved if I escape california only to have it follow me
Yeah, I'd believe it.
fuck it, I'll go move to montana and be a hermit or something
Just know when you see us Texans griping about the "damn Californians" we're mostly referring to the ones who feel obligated to change the culture and politics.
So probably not you if I'm reading you right.
And this is from a native Texan who lived in Austin just as the Social Justice nonsense was starting.
Lol. My escape strategy is the open Midwest.
I'm from midwest canada
it would be nice to go back but:
-40 winter
programming jobs pay ~ 1/3rd of my current salary
shitty health care
concern over teh direction the country is currently going (although if they can generate enough backlash to replace trudeau without going hard right, this will probably get better)
Yeah, I keep hearing stuff about Doug Ford. Not sure if that's your idea of hard right. But I can see him coming to power in Canada.
I don't know enough about the specifics but based on what I know, doug ford is fine
at worst he will be incompetent but (as far as I know) there's nothing extreme about him
I don't know too much. Except that he's getting the same response from the institutions that Trump gets here.
more like trudon't
I looked into it for all of about 2 minutes but doug ford's entire platform seems to be "I will undo all the things Kathleen Wynne did"
and all I know about Kathleen Wynne is that she pushed SJW stuff in middle schools and she made electricity super expensive with aggressive green mandates
so I'm fine with this
yeah that's a pretty good platform tbh
"un-fuck the country" is usually a solid platform
just ontario, not the country
oh ok so only most of the country
:^)
yep
tl;dr Fox executives are washing their hands of it and leaving it to the writing staff.
this is still being talked about???
Apparently. Was the top of my news suggestions from Bing.
FWIW, Bing didn't notice the NYTimes thing hat everyone's been swarming today.
Shows where the priorities are I guess.
The activists are relentless.
For Ontario: the options were either Doug Ford or the socialists
Ontario voted correctly
In BC it's neolibs or the ones who got rid of mental health care despite being the leftmost party of the big 3
Yeah, they really fucked up that Kinder Morgan pipeline project
Trudeau buying an abandoned pipeline might be the highlight of his admin from an entertainment standpoint
