Gotta have trials. Even when you're just going to bring the poor sap into the next room and shoot him.

Is there precedent for releasing the names of jurors even before a verdict has been reached?

I'm ignorant and probably blinded by tribal hatred but I can't see any justifiable reason as to why news organizations would ask for this beside the obvious attempt at juror intimidation.

Do they even have a fig leaf to hide behind that I'm just not seeing?

Oh god what's going to happen if the jury info leaks? Mistrial? There's bound to be someone at the courthouse who has access to the information and left-wing leanings.

From what i gathered how the process works: there is no good reason for the public, let alone cnn, to know the names of any jurors. Period.

It really makes you wonder why this particular trial had them attempt this while this apparently hasn't happened in other high profile trials.

Why is it so important that Manafort gets convicted? The guy is a scumbag but he doesn't appear to be important.

If they thought he had info on Trump it's kinda too late to pressure him to give it up after he's been convicted of something.

You'd want to pressure him beforehand and reach some sort of plea bargain.

Or get him immunity and an agreement to spill whatever dirt you think he has.

But that time has passed. If he gets convicted then the judge decides sentence.

No bargaining power left to get him to spill any hypothetical dirt.

Simple: they can talk about how the mueller investigation has a conviction.

So the payout here for lefties is that they can plausibly sell the narrative that the Mueller investigation is going somewhere?

This is all a risky scheme to keep the investigation going?
